“Everything you need in one spot”

I am a regular visitor to Emperors palace. There are 4 hotels on the premises, the D'oreale Grande, Metcourt Suites, Mondior and Metcourt Hotel. Ive read some of the reviews and had to laugh at some of the critique ( Service bad due to the fact that there was no internet connection ) This is a one-stop-shop, the casino, fantastic restaurants, plenty take-away outlets, movies, entertainment, hotels to suit your budget and a regular ( 30 minute rotation) FREE SHUTTLE SERVICES from and to the airport. The management and the staff of the various hotels are on the ball, efficient, helpful and friendly and any complaint and/or request will be dealt with promptly and professionally. I highly recommend these hotels due to the fantastic location from the airport, the safety, the convenience, entertainment and comfort.

Room Tip: Depending in which hotel you sleep. Due to the location some guest may be sensitive to aircraft nois...

Stayed here for 8 nights on business. Found the hotel to be well appointed, with comfortable rooms. In general the service is good, and staff helpful and friendly. The hotel offers free wi-fi, but i found the signal strength to be very variable throughout the property, which meant I was constantly dropping out and having to re-log in.....10 times per day.....rather frustrating. I also had issue with the water in the shower, fluctuating between hot and cold, making for an unpleasant showering experience. This was rectified....eventually. My main issue on this stay, was the breakfast. Don't misunderstand, the quality and variety was good, but it was the manner in which patrons were managed. The breakfast area is not very big, so when the hotel is full, it cannot accommodate all guests. Hence there was often a wait and the front door. This is understandable during breakfast "rush-hour", and the wait was usually less than 10 minutes. However, the hotel had a large tour group from the asia. These people showed no regard for the queue, and twice during my stay, I had my table "hijacked" by them whilst I was at the buffet, returning to my table to find it now occupied by others. The management did a really poor job of handling this. If they are to accept non-english speaking customers, in large groups like this, they should have a specific person, able to communicate with them, employed to manage them. All my complaints were raised to the hotel, which did do its best to rectify the problems, or at least console me. The foyer was often so crowded with these groups, which made it difficult to get to the elevators to access my room, and generally gave the hotel a feeling less than five stars. Hence, management needs to decide which are their markets, as catering to large tour groups and maintaining five star standards is a difficult task, one which this hotel has not yet managed to do.

Rooms are good size, and have good amenities, location to the airport and free shuttle is important, and breakfast has several choices. But this is it. We arrived at 4pm in the afternoon and were told our room wasn't ready - not acceptable given checkin was for 3pm. An hour later waiting in the foyer with 2 small children and after having to ask several times we were told the room was ready. We went upstairs to find people in the room servicing it. We saw several people in the same position as us, and several people were complaining to staff.

Walls are very thin - and given it is an airport hotel expect to be woken during the night when your neighbours are either checking in or up and about getting ready to depart.

The staff weren't helpful - lots of - smiles and hellos - but no one could answer questions, help in any way - indeed on checking out we left our bags with the concierge whilst having breakfast, and then when we went back were told 'they are over there' - so my children and I (6yr old and 9yr old) lugged them outside whilst 3 staff members watched on....... I have never experienced that from any hotel in the past let along 5 star. The complex is well positioned, and if you are in transit it is very easy - why else would you stay here - but I would recommend you save your money and book in to the 4 or 3 star hotel in the same complex - this hotel is only their equivalent and you may as well save your money.

Whilst this hotel may tick most boxes, it lets itself down on the most fundamental aspect - service!

My husband and I, daughter and son-in-law stayed at the Grande en route to Zambia. Arriving rather tired from the long haul from Australia, we decided to have a quick dinner and retire early neglecting to leave our money belts in the safe.... silly I now know. We arrived back to our respective rooms to find our belts lighter by US$200. We reported this to Howard, the duty manager, who said he would do a complete security investigation. He took our phone numbers, email addresses for the follow back. What happened next? Nothing!!

We arrived back 4 days later from Zambia to overnight in the complex's sister hotel before our next leg. When we followed up ourselves, we were given the right royal "fob off" from Howard - no explanations, no investigation and no apologies. It is a poor reflection that this hotel won't take responsibility for its employee honesty and its customer relations are abominable. Definitely not the service one would expect from a 5* establishment and a sad indictment on South African hotel security.

Room Tip: Use the safe and lock up your valuables!

We love this place a fantastic choice, the breakfast unbelievable, the service amazing, close to the airport with transfers to and from. Comfortable beds, sensational amenities. My partner had her nails done and said that the staff were great, we'll be having massages when we get back from a weeks safari

From the moment we entered D'oreale Grande at Emperor's Palace we experienced luxury combined with first class service. Were we immediately made to feel comfortable during the check-in by a delightful friendly Zanele at reception. The porter Justice was equally friendly and helpful in assisting us with our luggage, and explained the room facilities to us. The room was found to be immaculately clean, fresh smelling, very luxurious and tastefully furnished. The room also contained a mini bar fridge. Upon request at reception whether we could have it opened mainly to store some medication, Zanele obliged by just entering a few commands on her computer.
Dining at Aurelia’s Restaurant turned out to be one of our best dining experiences yet. The dishes from starters to dessert were very tasty and of the highest standard we have ever enjoyed. Combined with the very prompt and professional service received by Steven who attended to us, this turned out to be a dining experience only equaled by the Mahogany Restaurant at Gaberone Sun in Botswana and The Boathouse Restaurant in Central Park, New York.
The room we resided in faced the parking lot and the highway. We found that the highway traffic noise in particular could be heard at night. I would recommend that guests request a room facing away from the highway. Although the hotel is very close to the airport we were totally unaware of any aircraft noise. There is a free shuttle service to the airport available that departs at 20 minute intervals. The Emperors Palace Casino is also within short walking distance for those that want to venture into some gambling.

Room Tip: We found that the highway traffic noise in particular could be heard at night. I would recommend th...

I stayed at this hotel for convenience of airport connections and office business over a 9 night business trip.. The hotel supplies a free airport connection which runs every 20 minutes each direction. The staff in the hotel are very welcoming and attentive - check in desk, concierge, restaurant. The breakfast quality is good - continental, or cooked, as you wish. The lunch menu is a bit limiting and the service can be extremely slow - up to 50 minutes to receive a salad after ordering - don't decide on a quick lunch before your flight!
The hotel is part of a grand complex with other hotels - of lesser stars - from the same chain. My feeling on arrival was that I had arrived at a Disney resort, but that feeling changes when you enter the hotel.
There is corridor access to a group of restaurants beside the casino. There is a wide choice of the type of restaurant you may desire - meat, fish, Indian cuisine, Japanese, Italian. In trying a few different types, I found all the restaurant staff to be extremely friendly, but with an American approach to serving.

The hotel is attached to a casino. I did not try it, but it is extremely popular. There is also the occasional stage entertainment of the type found in a typical holiday resort in Europe.

There is free wifi available, but it tends to be very unreliable on the 5th floor, and frequently disconnects.

I was disappointed that there was no shopping facilities at the complex - not even a gift shop. If you want shops, you need a car, or you go to the airport and find the metro system.
