Very quick stay during WC. Clean room in a relatively peaceful setting. Shuttle service to/from JNB which makes it a very convenient landing spot relative to the airport, but otherwise isolated.

Breakfast was outstanding and made to order. Overall service was just average during my stay, but I attribute that to frenzy of WC (I was there opening weekend).

Arrived 09:30AM after overnight flight, we were met at the airport and taken to the hotel no problems. Our room was ready, which was clean and tidy, perhaps a little spartan compared to the large chain hotels. On the evening we ordered in food, which was fine. Liked the honour bar principle.
Not sure if we would use as a holiday hotel.

The Safari Club website states it is luxurious yet homey with personal service customised to the needs of each guest. Although it is a well appointed hotel, with beautiful decor, close to the airport and convenient for a one night stay, we found its service lacking. It is rated four stars by the Tourism Council but did not provide the basics we came to expect like a hairdryer and adapter. There were no small appointments like mini shampoos or wrapped bar soaps, just a large bottle of liquid soap to share. With regard to the meal service the choices were to order take-out or eat at the hotel, as you are in located in an industrial park. The meal consisted of two courses, with no choices, a green salad, and chicken corden bleu. The portions were large but the food was tasteless and poorly cooked. No water, dessert or coffee was offered or provided even after we asked. The breakfast meal consisted of a buffet style with a hot option provided and was totally satisfactory and well cooked. The room itself and hotel plus pool are well maintained, clean, and well decorated. In addition the airport transfers were well coordinated with no issues. Overall we stayed in over six hotels in South Africa and would rate this hotel a three versus a four.

We stayed at the Safari Club on two occassions on our visit to South Africa. It was booked for us by our agent go2africa.com and we were not disappointed.
The first time we arrived we had been married for only 2 days and there was a small bottle of champagne and some snacks waiting for us in our room - which we didn't expect but thought was lovely.
The rooms were very spacious and the beds were incredibly comfortable.
Breakfast in the breakfast room was lovely as well as the loft style bar which worked on an honour system in the main building.
We had dinner in the restaurant on our second stay and again found the food to be lovely. Internet was available in teh main building (in case you feel out of touch with the rest of the world) and the transfers to and from the airport went very smoothly and we were thankful for the direction.
I would definitely stay here again as I feel it is a real hidden gem.

My husband and I stayed at The Safari Club for our last night in South Africa in order to get to the airport quickly for our afternoon flight. We found this quiet hotel was exactly what we needed after weeks of non-stop adventures. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The bar upstairs was fully stocked to our delight. We were impressed and thought it was commendable that the hotel worked on an "honor system" for the bar, all they ask is for guests to indicate which drinks were taken. We ordered lunch from the local delivery service and dinner from the hotel, which was very good. We were more than happy to lock ourselves in our room for the day, watch movies, order in food and fully relax in our comfortable room before our pending 24 hours of air travel the following day. Thanks for a great stay.

We have spent one night at the Safari Club on two separate occasions and will be heading back there in ten days. It is located just a few short minutes away from the airport. The airport transfers are friendly and hassle free. The staff is always helpful and the breakfast is fantastic. It is very peaceful and very quiet. It feels very much like a bed and breakfast and comes with a self serve honor bar.

This is a gem and much better than the Hilton or Hyatt! The lounge is a great place to meet fellow adventurers and share in eachothers world travels, and will be your last opportunity to have a very good scotch at a rock bottom price---the food isn't too bad either! Enjoy and partake!
