I went for a lunch during December and was pleased that not too much had changed since my visit 18 months ago. The typical Portuguese décor of blue decorated tiles and the neat tables settings still dominated. The prices are very reasonable and the prawns are always a fantastic option. Service was good albeit a bit slow for an almost empty lunch setting. The bathrooms are spotless and the secure parking was welcome.

Starters, main and wine all excellent. Service good and best of all a great environment. Adega do Monge manages to bring it all together. One of the best restaurants in Jozi.

Visited during my recent trip to Joberg. Despite being a busy evening, the service was commendable. We ordered Prawn Nacional, Chourico and Portuguese fillet steak. The food was fresh and so delicious. The prawns were yummy and the steak was perfectly cooked. Will definitely go to the place in my next visit.

Although the service was ok, the manager was a problem. As a group all sitting at different tables, we requested split bills. She insisted that as we booked as one, we could not have separate bills. REALLY. She came up with the excuse that she had already started an account for us and could not change that. Well, as we had not ordered yet, we were rather surprised. After haggling we did manage to get our separated bills with a service charge whacked onto it. The food was mediocre and not very impressive. If you want great Portuguese cuisine in the area I would suggest Troyeville Hotel

We went as a group of 6 to Adega do Monge on the day of the New Zealand South Africa test match and it was incredibly busy - despite this the service was superb, the food out of this world and the whole experience an absolute pleasure. Well done to everyone. We will definitely be back!!!!!!!!
