Best prawns in town. They also do take away. Not a great area at night.

The host of our B & B took us here for the Sunday BBQ. The food was plentiful and tasty and at around $15 Aus per head was exceptional value. The place isn't flash but that's not what this place is about. The only let down was the service but my host was suprised when I commented because he said it was good for South Africa. It is very popular on Sundays and you would have to book. Beware this isn't a great part of Johannesburg.

This long-established hotel is in an old part of town, but I don't think it is entirely fair to call it 'dodgy'. Complaints about the decor are also unnecessary. This place is what it is. A no-frills, old-style eating house where prawn lovers can 'pig out' to their hearts content. The pink flamingo mural is part and parcel of the place's identity. If you are looking for gourmet food, contemporary decor or a sophisticated atmosphere, this is NOT the place to go. If you and a bunch of friends want to tuck into your meal with your napkin tucked into your collar, then head to the Troyeville and enjoy yourselves.

Like going to the Troyeville Hotel, the decor is very basic but the food is great, very tasty. On Sundays, they have a Portuguese braai for US$15, great value.
