“Interesting, fun and educational.”

It takes a while, but you see and learn quite a bit. You get two free beers at the end, and one in the middle of the tour and you get to keep a keen glass. It is on the Big Red Bus hop on hop off tour. It has a pleasant bar/restaurant next to it with soe great micro brews that are worth tasting. This was the last thing we did in five weeks in SA and I leave the country with very pleasant memories, and a little sloshed!

“It's not a Brewery”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

A marketing opportunity, well presented and informative, good value for money. It is not though a working brewery, that is an hour away, and a bit OTT on marketing. Some good memorabilia, if you like that. Caution if following just your Sat Nav/GPS, you are not allowed to drive on the Bus Lanes, no need to park on the street and pay a "fee", secure, free off street parking at the back,

“If you like beer you can't go wrong”
Reviewed May 9, 2013 via mobile

Travel from the tombs of Egypt to the dusty mining town of early Joburg and find out how beer transformed through the ages. Price is R55 which includes two complimentary beers after the tour, I had the Castle milk stout and loved it. Great way to spend a couple of hours and even got to watch live premiership football in the bar afterwards.

“Beer, an historical perspective...quite informative, entertaining”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

This is a fun tour and very inexpensive, plus you get a small beer ( keep the glass) at mid tour and two adult sized beers at the completion. Very informative and entertaining view of he history of brewing and the development of beer in South Africa. Great for kids, too.

“Tour is LONG.. but the bar at the end is great”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I've been on much better beer tours...if its your first brewery tour, you may find some of this more fascinating, but if you've been on one already (Where they show you how beer is made) this is a bit repetitive, and they make you sit through these long, mostly irrelevant videos (sometimes incoherent - still have no idea what the one set in Egyptian tomb was about). So, its 90 minutes long, and about 45minutes of it is interesting.

BUT, the bar at the top at the end is nice and has a great selection of beers on tap (you get 2 free with your ticket - plus another castle or 2 and small beer glass souvenir during the tour). The highlight being Castle Milk Stout on draft, which is pretty rare in Joburg and South Africa as a whole (think of it as a bit sweeter Guinness in the most basic terms).

So, if you have time in your schedule (allot 2 hours all-in) i'd say give it a visit, but there are better brewery tours in the world for sure.
