“A must for all South Africans and history lovers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2012

My tour of the Jhb Fort was awe inspiring, however it is sad that not many people know of the Fort. Living in Jhb my entire life, I was only exposed to the fort ona team building exercise. The photographic and quote displays are deep and poignant, portraying the feelings and emotions of the Fort and the actions that took place there.

It is heart wrenching to be shown the conditions in which prisoners lived and what they endured, including the likes of Nelson Mandela.

The tour is not lond and drawn out, it is very thought out, with a thorough tour of the Fort, each sterp being informative and interesting.

“An essential part of South African history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2011

A tour of the prison including details of Ghandi's incarcerationand live in South Africa is an essential part of a visit to this area of the city. Visualise at first hand what it was like to be imprisoned there, then visit the new Constitutional Courts.

“Old Fort and Constitutional Court well worth visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2008

The Old Fort and Constitution Hill are definitely worth a visit. The Fort is an Apartheid era prison museum worth the trip on its own. Immediately adjacent is the the amazingly beautiful Constitutional Court Building. An amazing experience that I still think about was a spur of the moment trip to the new Constitutional Court where our guide was Albie Sachs http://www.constitutionalcourt.org.z...iesachs/1.html ). A bit like a tour of the US Supreme Court with Thurgood Marshall as your guide. He does them about once a month on Saturday's. Book ahead. We got lucky and they let us join, partly because I with someone he knows. No booking required except for him.
