maybe coz i've been there many times; and the glass is always dirty (all the way up and cant take great pictures); you would expect better... it is great though to get anidea of how big the down town really is.

easy to get to with a guide. Nice views of all Jozi and surroundings. Afterwards take your time and shop around at the entry level

This is a little known attraction for suburbian South Africans who have written off the Carlton Centre decades ago.

While driving through downtown is never a particular pleasant experience, the Carlton Centre provides very secure garage parking, and there are so many friendly and helpful security personnel that you can't help but feel safe and secure.

Just ask directions to the lift that goes to the Top of Africa and they will point out the way.

Tickets are a bargain at R15 a piece, and although the windows of the observation deck are cloudy in places due to wear and tear, and the signs/exhibits a bit aged, it is still an amazing experience to look down on the City of Gold.

There are telescope-like viewers to enhance your experience, and a small under-played cafe which serves filter coffee and ginger ale with the odd hard drink available.

In conclusion, this is an extremely unexploited attraction, but the best value-for-money you'll find! Enjoy it while its not over-run by tourists and sight-seers!

Nice view to Jo'burg, but behind a glass window. Nice place, worth to see, but no fireworks.

It's worth going to the Top of Africa, 50 floors up to see the scale of the city and view the surrounding suburbs. I'll bet this is the only CBD that has golden sand mine dumps, which you can see count from your eagles' view point
