A fantastic venue. Lovely outdoor setting with great food at reasonable prices. Decent wines available by the glass.

We went on a Wednesday and there was live music which made the helped with the ambience which was relaxed and friendly. The menu is fairly extensive, but simple, tasty, and unfussy. The wine we had was delicious- the most expensive pinotage on the menu- forgot the name- but it was still a very reasonable price- as was everything! My burger was fantastic- a couple of extra potato wedges wouldn't have gone amiss though.... I was really impressed with this place and wouldn't hesitate to go back for another meal.
Having found this restaurant via the internet, I was met with a very warm reception from Charmaine when making a reservation for Mothers Day.
There were 6 family members who joined us for this special occasion and from the minute we entered this superb little establishment, the level of service and friendliness was amazing. Charmaine and her team ensured a wonderful day was had by all. The menu is very "different" and offers what all of us saw us hearty, wholesome, home cooked offerings which really hit the spot. Extremely tasty and beautifully presented.
Our waitress was also an absolute pleasure along with her co-workers who all chip in to ensure the table is at all times professionally attended to.
Value for money cannot be faulted and already my grown sons are asking when we can revisit Rusty's so that we can enjoy one of the many other delights on the menu.
In addition a classy pianist playing in the background really made for the perfect celebration.
We will be back!!!
I’m hooked!!!! The warm and happy atmosphere, the wonderful friendly staff, the excellent service, the value for money, the live music (great musicians!!) and the absolute tasty/interesting/delicious food (to name but a few) will make me come back for more!!!
The Rusty Lady is tucked away amongst hundreds of antique shops in Queen Street (Kensington) and as soon as one enter the restaurant, you are ‘transported’ into a little piece of heaven (or so it feels!), forgetting immediately that you’re actually in Jo-burg! The well-trained staff made us feel at home immediately and the well-known talented pianist, Hans van Rensburg, created a perfect warm & inviting ambiance!
We just love the place!!!
Our family chose The Rusty Lady for a late lunch today. We were looking for a venue where we could still enjoy outdoors and capitalize on the amazing weather. A telephonic reservation confirmed our last minute reservation and we were received warmly. A bonus was the ample parking facilities. We felt at home almost immediately, the ambiance and music was great. We ordered a garlic focaccia bread and a starter platter consisting of potatoe wedges, sausages, calamari and haloumi cheese. Delicious! The main meals were superb - we enjoyed the hotspots, one being an Irish stew and the other lamb curry. Very very good although the lamb curry hotspot had little lamb. It was rectified immediately by our helpful waiter. The chops were simply great! Unfortunately the restaurant close at 5pm sharp and staff starting packing up from 4.30. We didn't have time for dessert and although we felt a bit rudely treated closer to 5pm, we will visit them again. Despite the time deadline, this restaurant has good food, a great vibe and a very homely and comforting energy. Maybe they should not take reservations close to closing time? Great value for money!
