Reviewed April 26, 2014

This is a really good way of obtaining knowledge of SA's history, the apartheid era, all the significant icons and leaders of our country, it gives one an idea of an experience of what SA was like.....
highly recommended as apartheid was a huge aspect of SA history

“A must see in South Africa”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

No one should visit South Africa without spending an afternoon in the apartheid museum. It is such a fundamental part of the country's history and presented in such an interesting way, I would not miss it.

“Such a moving experience...”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

A very well planned museum that walks you through the high(and low)lights of SA's recent history of apartheid. It was very moving and a little hard to digest when you stop for a second and think, "wow... this wasn't all that long ago." Really a must see...

“Everyone visiting Johannesburg should take this journey”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

This is a must visit if you want to understand the persecution endured by non whites and delivered during a "civilized time",by educated and civilized human beings. Only the Holocaust museum was more moving...
This Museum is centred on a journey through time from 1948 to present day, so you need to follow the route to get the most out of it.
You need to allow at least 3 hours to absorb all this museum has to offer. I'd recommend 4. If you only have an hour then you won't get the best from the experience and will be left wondering.
For me one of the most poignant moments was listening to an interview with Winnie Mandela in the 70's, when asked if she saw an end to the struggle and what would that end be? she replied "when Mandela is President"

“Persecution summarised excellently !”
Reviewed April 24, 2014 via mobile

Being 55 (2014) - the major events were common news items on the BBC. However what is portrayed is the relentless white persecution of non whites and denial of human rights to education by language laws.
GO SEE IT'S IMPRESSIVE !
Also go to Soweto to the Hector Peterson Centre.
Then reflect on how well you are treated in South Africa by non- whites if a white person.
I was humbled.
Apologies but I actually visited in 2010 but options didn't allow.
