My husband and I visited the Apartheid Museum at the tail end of our honeymoon. There is an incredible amount of information that is presented at the museum and it gives a comprehensive overview of the history of Apartheid. We especially appreciated the small details in the museum that added a bit of artistic flair to a heavy subject matter. I don't think that a trip to South Africa would be complete without an understanding of what has shaped the country.

The temporary exhibition about the life of Mandela was excellent, and gave a in depth overview of his life. An excellent and timely exhibit!

An excellent information centre to learn or rediscover the history of apartheid and the life of Nelson Mandela. There is a large amount of quite in-depth and interesting reading as well video clips and some memorabilia. I agree with another reviewer that it is a little intense for young children.

I liked the layout and thought the visitors introduction to apartheid at the museum entrance, where we were segregated according to how our entry tickets, an interesting way of interpretation.

A very good selection of items for sale at the museum shop.
Thoroughly recommend a visit.

The museum was worth the stop. Take your time and learn. I knew a lot already as I grew up for a few years here, this gave more to see.

Whatever you think you know about Apartheid, Nelson Mandela and the ANC, or people in general, this museum is a must see if you spend anytime in Jberg. However, most of the exhibits require a lot of reading so I don't think it would hold the attention of young children.

Good and relevant information, poorly organized and apathetic and unfriendly staff inside. The opening video is pitiful, a series of random pictures with a voice over that is difficult to hear at times.
