the apartheid museum is an excellent attraction for locals and visitors. A powerful reminder of our history, the museum has incredible exhibits and information. Well informed and helpful staff. The cafe is a bit tired, could be better.

Visiting this museum made us understand how far and how ilogic this regime was, the bureaucracy that was dedicated to this task and all the nonsense it implied.
Of course, there is a huge part on the repression side, but I would have had more information about the genese of this regime, there are some leads, but I still have unanswered questions.

An educational and moving day spent at the museum. Very well run and having been there a few times I appreciate the changing displays and helpful staff.

The museum is a great place to go if you are or are not familiar with SA's apartheid history. The entrance to the main exhibit hall, where you are asked to go through one of the entrances marked whites/black/coloreds only. There is a lot of information that can be very overwhelming, especially if you tried to read all the signs. I suggest that you pick the areas that you really want to know about and skim the rest. There was also a special, temporary exhibit on Nelson Mandela, that truth be told, wasn't that informative if you already know something about him, but it was still nice. The videos and photographs are particularly riveting.
