Owner description: Filled with great shops and hotels, Rosebank is another northwestern suburb worth a visit.

Rosebank Mall is a great place to get some shopping done. It's actually made up of The Mall of Rosebank (the original mall) and has since had The Zone added onto it (a newer section, which has recently had it's second phase completed).

In a nutshell, you will find pretty much all the main department stores here (Stuttafords, Woolworths, Truworths, Foshini, Mr. Price) and loads of speciality stores too. The Zone houses many of the newer trendier brands (Forever New, Aldo, etc...) and there is a plethora of restaurants and coffee houses to choose from.

On Sundays, make sure you head to the Rooftop Market, located on the upper parking level of the Mall. It's one of Johannesburg's longest running flea markets which has a great selection of goods ranging from jewelry, antiques, vintage clothing, metal works, flowers, books, gadgets, toys, CD's and DVD's, meats, spices, cheeses, breads, and a variety of takeaway foods.
It's about as safe as flea markets get (don't discount the possibility of pick pockets, but I haven't ever experienced this here). It's very family friendly, I actually visited here today with a pram and there were no issues. It's open on Sunday's and public holidays.

Tips: Try Liquidchefs for a cocktail, Grillhouse for a great steak, koi for fantastic sushi and Fournos Bakery for tea and cake.

This is a huge Mall - really a collection of indoor malls, outside dining areas, an African Market and a huge Flee market in the parking lot next to the African market (on Sunday anyway)
The complex is big enough that it doesnt feel like a closed in gated area like most other Johannesburg malls
Its a great place for souvenir hunting, eating and chain store shopping

Not the best shopping area that we have visited but was very clean and safe. Very disappointed that most of the clothes were made in China. The local market was a bit of fun but did not like being "harassed" by the stall holders.
