Quick visit Large area great for picnics, Not a lot else to see Rose Garden is beautiful in season. A nice place to enjoy the outside away fron the bustle of the city, We were there over the Christmas holidays so most areas and cafes were closed, Something to do if you have nothing better to do to pass a couple of hours

“Serene and spacious”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

A beautiful park with a lake, gardens, cafe and lots of space and parking. Nice to just spend the day to relax, unwind, reflect and enjoy with family and friends.. Kids love it because they can run, play ball, cycle and be free.

Reviewed December 30, 2012

Beautiful extensive gardens with Cafeteria and borderring on Emmarentia Lake.
Victorian Rose gardens with Water feauture .
Huge open space for ball games and picknicking with view of lake.
Has history of muggings in the park for cellphones BUT security improved dramatically and Car Park well guarded.
Cafetaria acceptable.
When you enter at main gate closely read MAP of HUGE PARK and its various gardens to decide how far and where you want to walk.
Cyclists in small numbers allwed to use Park Pathways.
Schools often have sportish events within the Park.
Can watch on lake canoists of Club on opposite side of Lake.
Johannesburg's pride.

“Beautiful Jozi lung”

I love going to the botanical gardens and the Emmarentia. Safe open space for the entire family despite the odd one or two demented dog owners who insist on breaking the law and not leashing their dogs.

“A day in nature”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

My family and I love visiting Emmarentia dam / Botanical Gardens in summer, it's so refreshing to just get away from the pollution and just 15 minutes away from home take a walk in the serene nature...
