“Perfectly comfortable and adequate for a transit stop-over”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2010

I used this hotel for an unscheduled 24-hour stopover in Johannesburg, and chose it because of proximity to the airport and to a large mall with choice of restaurants and cinema. Room (4th floor) was more comfortable, better furnished and quieter than expected (having said that, I did request and was given a room on the quiet side of the hotel, as I could imagine that there would have been more noise on the side that faces the busy dual carriageway alongside the hotel).
Check in staff were courteous, and dining room staff were satisfactory.
The bathroom was spotlessly clean.
Since I was traveling on an evening flight, I was facilitated with a late check-out the following day, which I greatly appreciated, at no extra cost.

Service is very bad, my first encounter was when i was ignored at the counter thinking that someone was booking me in. I thought that was just a misunderstanding and i gave them another chance

Then last month on a business trip to JHB, i was booked again, but hey, rooms were noisy from traffic, couldn't close the windows, and in the morning as i was getting ready, my clothes was crawling roaches, even inside the shoes.

I had a terrible presentation during my meeting in the morning, as i was concerned that someting might crawl out of my briefcase...

what a terrible experience... the matter was reported and i hope it was attended to...

but will not recommend to anyone in the future...

Stayed at Garden Court Eastgate recently, for the 3rd time in the past 5 years. On my first stay the hotel was a 'Holiday Inn Garden Court', and on the last two it has been the Garden Court, without the Holiday Inn affiliation. On the most recent stay the staff were considerably more helpful and attentive than on either of the previous visits, a welcome improvement.

This is a 4-storey modern business hotel, comfortable but nothing special. A free buffet breakfast is now included in the rate, where it previously was not. The location a convenient walk to the Eastgate shopping centre, and is across the road from the Bruma flea market. The hotel is also only about a 10 minute drive from the airport, and is handy to the N3 and N12 freeways.

Wireless broadband is available, at a cost, and if you need an iron you must ask the concierge to bring it and the ironing board to the room. There is a bar and restaurant, I had breakfast at the hotel but did not eat there in the evening as there are many good restaurants nearby in Bedfordview.

It is a good functional 3 star hotel for a short stay, I would recommend it more to business travellers than those on vacation.
