Restaurant Parreirinha continues to serve fantastic, fresh and authentic food at a very reasonable price.
I was first taken here in 1995 and have revisited on every visit to South Africa since - one of South Africa's hidden gems and a must visit.
Do not be put off by the location. Cars parked outside on the street are very well guarded (even after dark) and when you walk inside it is like Dr Who's Tardis - just with better catering.
I can't recommend anything in particular on the menu as it is all fantstatic, but, make sure you enter the address into your Satnav before departing home. The location that the Satnav will take you to if you plug in the restaurant name is 2-3 miles away.
On 2 separate visits over the last month, I've had the Prawn cakes and Squid as starters and Prawn Curry and King Prwans as mains... also tried some kingklip from the diner on the next table... Everything excellent.
They are not open on Sundays, and best to book in advance as the restaurant can get very busy.
This is a family business ably run by the whole family under mama's guidance in the kitchen. Homecooked, excellent food always at its best.
