“Lots of variety”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

The roof top market is my “flea market” preference. I love the fact that there are so many different items, from useful to not, some bargains to the expensive. Add in some delectable food stalls (pick up a cheese or 10, try some Indian delights, or even a decadent pastry/cake), with fabulous jewellery, and art stalls, you will surely find something here to take home or give as a gift.
I have spent many hours browsing, and rarely come home empty handed. I love Christmas as stall holders seem to come out with the most wonderful décor, and gift ideas. Stall holders are not pushy, but will be happy to help you with whatever you need. The Info desk is most useful and helpful.
Hop on the Gautrain and have a sunday outing.

“Weekend Flea Market”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

Check out my review for "African Craft Market". If you like flea markets, check this out on weekends from about 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM.

I bought a few beautiful, hand-made bottle stoppers from one of the stalls. I also bought a bottle opener made from an animal's tusk from another stall.

I'd go back and shop there again! :)

“Lots to buy and eat!!”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

Visited Rosebank market recently. I was really impressed by this market. Large numbers of stalls selling clothes, handicrafts etc. The market is perhaps set up for foreign tourists with lots of african crafts/clothes but there are also a lot of stalls selling hadmade gifts etc. We picked up some great traditional clothes and reasonable prices, but also a handmade book with handmade paper at a very good price. We visited with locals who shop there all the time.
The food area also had a large number of stalls selling a wide variety of foods, literally something for everyones taste. Particulary liked the stalls selling the churros and the Polish stall with some great cured meats. Live music whilst shopping and eating was an added bonus that our kids loved.

“nice”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

been going to Rosebank market for years, it's not a bad market but not fantastic either. There's a lot of African crafts so I highly recommend it for foreigners (don't forget to haggle!). They have a small jumping castle to keep kids entertained and there's usually music and dancing. There's a great food hall with all sorts of things to eat - and divine fresh fruit juice. Problem is there are not enough tables to sit and enjoy your food, so it's a bit of a stand and pounce situation.
I don't tend to buy much, but it's fun for a wander on a lazy Sunday.
