Train is efficient, clean and staff are knowledgeable and well informed about how to use the Gautrain and where the stations are

The Gautrain is world class, efficient, on time and spotless. I have used it a number of time to the airport, Pretoria and to Park Station. I love it.

There are some serious downsides though. If your flight is delayed you may not get back and then its R 400 for a taxi. You will also not be able to get your car out of the parking lot. I have stopped using it to the Airport because of that.

The buses are not that efficient and don't go to some places such as Greenside.

Fast, efficient and clean. Just don't do anything to tick off the security gaurds. These guys have a mandate to be priggish and prickly (saw one tell another guy to throw away his gum)

The Gautrain is as good as you get in any modern city with state of the art transport that whisks you to and from the airport in minimal time. The train is brilliant - its modern, spotlessly clean (read my Paris hotel review, where I lament the quality of the Parisian metro), and its VERY safe as security is super strict. Its well priced and use it with confidence - as so many commuters do. The travel time is around 20min to Sandton ex OR Tambo Airport (not sure about time to Pretoria as that involves a change over).

One gripe is that the car rental depots in Sandton are across a busy road, not close enough to the station for my liking, and if you arrive with lots of luggage the car hire is not convenient. The train does not service Lanseria Airport which is a pity.

Great train journey, clean and efficient and fast into Sandton. Should you wish to travel to Hatfield, Pretoria fares are cheaper and also great journey. Takes the strain out of the trip to and from the airport.
