My husband and I stayed 3 nights in this hotel for our first stay in Johannesburg. The Holiday Inn was very reasonably priced compared to others in the area and Sandton. We felt very safe in the area and loved being so close to restaurants for dinner so that we didn't have to travel far.
The rooms are on the smaller side and the bed is a bit small but it was fine. Unfortunately, the internet was down for our entire stay which was a downside - especially being that no other options were offered to us.
We took the Gautrain from the airport to the hotel and back to Sandton later in our stay and found it easy and efficient - don't hesitate to travel this way.
Tasha's is a great breakfast/lunch spot and we had a great steak at the Grillhouse in the Firs (behind the Hyatt.)
Note - We asked the hotel to call us a taxi one afternoon as we wanted to go to Melrose Arch. We called our own taxi on the way back and found the hotel taxi charged over double for the exact same trip in the same class of car. Call your own taxi or specify to the hotel you don't want a private driver, just a regular taxi.More
