“Great Food! Not Personal”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

The food is excellent! The Hong Kong Pears are beautifully presented and even better to taste! The roast duck in plum sauce was good, cooked perfectly!!
However the venue is not as amazing as it used to be.
Although the food and service was great, the previous venue was a lot more personal and not as commercial as the current location!
Wouldn't recommend Kong for a special date as it is loud and busy but the food is great for other occasions.

“Decadence!”

We had a Sunday lunch at Kong. We ordered dim sum for starters. Very very yummy!!!

All of us enjoyed our main course.

All in all a great dining experience.

“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

Enjoyed the meal and the service. Will go again. We used our Groupon deal here as well and the whole meal was well within budget. Have not been to Cedar Square as yet - next on list.

“Good ambience”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Good food and cocktails and great ambience. We had the cashew chicken and green thai curry and creme brulee for dessert which was great. You have to order your rice separately. The spicy salmon sushi was average.

“It has the potential, but doesn't quite deliver”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

I went here for a business dinner.

First impressions - very, very good. The restaurant is large, it is well thought out, great atmosphere and it was busy which is always a good sign.

Menu is interesting, nothing leeps out as being "must have".

Service was good especially considering it was a large group.

Nicest surprise was the ability to have a neck and head massage given whilst sitting at the table. The two Thai ladies were very good and the massage definitely worked.

The only downside was the food. Entree (sui mai) was nice. Main - Vietnamese caramlised pork and a side of garlic and egg rice, just didn't deliver. The portion size was small and the pork was not caramalised in any sense of the word. The pepper sauce was very, very mild. There was no noticeable garlic in the rice. With the addition of salt and powdered chilli, the dish became a little more interesting.

Others have commented that the price is at the upper end of the scale for Johannesburg restaurants and whilst the quality and the ambience is great, the food was the weak point.
