The local grill is not the tourist style restaurants so common in Joburg - Wombles, Grill House, The Butchers shop, all of which are equally excellent but very different. The local grill as the name suggests is a local steak house. Views differ - but I genuinely think the beef here is of a nicer quality. All of it grain or grass fed and all aged beautifully. A nice touch about the restaurant is meat and kitchen tour where the guys take time to explain how they cook the meat in different ways and give you a history of the farms where the beef is reared. Wine list is extensive and stepping away from the beef for a moment there is genuinely no better place for grilled calamari in Joburg. A great meal with a great bottle of wine will cost you less than 50 USD a head - and that is starter, main and wine. Definitely worth the trip.
