We were promptly picked up at the airport by Nicholas and driven speedily to our backpackers. The room was spotless, although a little dark and decor left a little to be desired. It has a laid back bar where stories are shared among fellow travellers. Patrick, the owner, serves a good Springbok shot! He is full of chat and knows how to tell a tall tale!
Overall this place was perfect for a cheap night in Joburg and a great location to get and from the airport. There is also a great little restaurant just down the road, which is safe to walk to, called the Pelican. The food is tasty and service is faultless.

We got picked up from the airport and taken to Mbizi's. It was like showing up at someone's house and they're not home. Didn't meet Patrick till the next day, but I just made myself at home anyways. Good sized place, nice big screen tv, bar area is nice. Overall a good place to stay, just be prepared to pay cash for everything, no plastic.

Had a great stay for 2 nights. Patrick was really helpful and friendly. Got a very cheap airport pickup which was great and the hostel was clean and tidy with good sized lockers in the rooms.
The pool and bar were excellent and theres a supermarket and pizza restaurant a short distance away.
Got to meet the owners friends and had a braai (bbq) with them which was really nice.
The location is nice and is safe. This does mean that the hostel is not very central but this is true for most of the hostels in J'burg and that means they are in a safe area. Transport can be easily arranged from the hostel to wherever you would like to go.
Overall its clean, safe, cheap, friendly, has good facilities, can arrange tours/activities and was a great place to stay. I think i'll be back next year for the world cup. Cheers Patrick!

15 mins away from the airport and the owner Patrick picked me up on time. Relaxed safe environment with a swimming pool and pool table in the back. A clean hostel, a lady cleans every day and it's a self catered kitchen with a pick and pay close by. I booked the Aparthe museum tour, the baz bus and the Kruger national park from here which was tres easy! A definate first call to break the south African Ice.

Myself and a friend stayed at this property for two nights at the end of our holiday and overlanding trip. Patrick (the owner) was great and picked us up from the airport. The lodge itself is great, a home from home. It even has satellite tv with Sky news so I could catch up on all the doom and gloom. Patrick really works hard at making your stay enjoyable. The Soweto tour he organised for us was great, it was run by a local so at least you felt the money was going back to the community. It really was a lovely place to stay and meet some other travellers! The restaurants nearby were also great value! If I was going back to Jo'berg for whatever reason I would stay at Mbizi!
