On arrival at the Windmill Casino we decided to enjoy an evening meal at The Raj so we popped in, liked what we saw, and made a table reservation for later that evening. On arrival we were seated at our table of choice and presented with the menu...so far so good...when we asked to see the wine list we were informed that they were not able to serve alcohol as their liquor licence had expired!!! We asked why we were not informed at the time of booking to which all they could offer was an apology for the 'oversight' - when we asked why other patrons had wine on their table we were told that they had brought it themselves as they had been informed about the licence fiasco. Despite this let-down we decided to stay for the meal....big mistake...an over-sized plate made the under-sized portion of Prawn Curry and rice look somewhat 'lost' the food lacked flavour and definitely no points for presentation, none of the traditional accompaniments to a curry were offered eg. Sambols. The young man who presented himself as the "Manager" was completely out of his depth and appeared flustered and embarrassed. This evening was part of my husband's 70th Birthday celebration weekend and was a complete disaster.
