We stopped first at the Hampton Inn but it was full--though it looked like nobody was around.* We then went to the Kayenta Monument Valley Inn, and though there were tons of people milling around, we got a room--because it was VERY expensive, much more than the nicer-looking Hampton.

Our second-floor room smelled like cigarette-smoke-masked-with-lots-of-Glade. The windows were bolted shut, and there was no sprinkler in the cottage-cheese ceiling. We were happily close to the stairs in case of a fire.

Sleeping was okay, not tooo noisy--but we'd rate the hotel as being in the $49 a night category, not the $199 a night category. Breakfast at $25 was overpriced.

Its proximity to lovely destinations, and the scarcity of lodging for hundreds of square miles around explain why this old dog can still do any tricks. Next time, we are reserving in advance at the Hampton Inn.

*Probably looked empty because of people who had wisely made reservations ahead and hadn't arrived yet for the evening.

I travel to Kayenta a couple of times a year, so I'm familiar with the area. The hotel is showing its age, but I've found it to be clean. It has a nice pool area also. It has a restaurant that is just okay. In my opinion, the hotel is definitely over priced, but keep in mind, Kayenta is a very small town located in the Navajo Nation. Your only going to get three or four choices and they are all going to be expensive, and none of them are going to have much of a wow factor. If you want to stay in Kayenta, you just have to accept that your not going to find a 5 star hotel and just make the best of it.

after a long day of driving and an early day ahead we were glad to meet Leander at check in. he offered us an o.k. rate though still expensive, we got our key and went to our room. unfortunately the a/c coils needed to be cleaned and we did not know that after uncomfortably sleeping there for the few hours we only needed the room for.

would have been perfect if the a/c worked properly (note to management - please stay on top of this), good location, comfy bed and knowledgeable, friendly staff. much better than a place i reviewed 10 miles outside of town - see Anasazi Inn review by me.

Room Tip: Make sure A/C works.......Overall, very pretty & good location

Kayenta really is the nearest place to stop over if you are visiting Monument Valley and, as that is all you are really going to do, don't expect the highest luxuries. The hotel does look a bit motel from the outside and, some of the decor is a bit out dated but, we were greeted in as friendly and courteous way as at any of our other hotels and, the rooms were clean and tidy. We had very pleasant meals for dinner and for breakfast from the restaurant. Although I'm sure you could have had a cheaper breakfast from elsewhere we just wanted to be sorted before setting off. My only slight negative here is that the beds weren't quite as big as in most of the rooms we stayed in and the laundry room was small, busy and, shut quite early so we saved our things for our next stop.

We didn't book this hotel, just called & stayed on way Monument Valley. Comparing it with other hotels which are all quiet expensive in this area, it was a lot of money but it was also very luxurious!! This was the nicest place we stayed in the whole of our 3 week road trip. Coffee maker in the room, parking near to the room. The hotel staff very helpful and let me use their phone to book our next motel at Marble Canyon. Beautiful place.

This was night 10 of a 20 day road trip. The website for this motel looks really good. We reserved directly via telephone one month in advance. We were assigned room 302 at $173.23. The building and rooms are old dusty and tired. The guest laundry room was a broken down filthy pit. The one across the highway at the "mall" was spotless, but I was accosted by a local drunk while cleaning the windows on my vehicle. Avoid Kayenta if you can.

If you want to be treated with hostility then this is your town! If you want to be ripped off this is your town! We booked this hotel 3 months in advance, and we got there at 2:00pm and asked if it would be possible to check in early. I might as well have been asking for them to eat dirt with the reaction I received. A simple sorry but no would have sufficed. They said the rooms were all full but there were no cars there. Then when we came back at 3:00 we had to stand in line for 30 minutes to check in. Then we got stuck way in the back of the hotel. The next morning the parking lot still wasn't close to full. Every interaction I had with people in this town was the same, hostile and rude. They do not want you there, period.
