Hearty home cooking, not too pricey and attentive service. We seldom have desert because the main course is just so filling and yummy. The setting is lovely and old world fine dining - shiny cutlery, old furniture and paintings probably all worth a fortune.

I had an enjoyable meal here at Club on Bird and I think that it is extremely good value for money.
The Building dates back to 1904, and has served as a club for the city's movers and shakers since then.
The lunch menu was varied enough to suit most tastes and once the selection is made, you can choose to either sit in the diningroom and wait, or go through to the bar next door.
I had grilled fish with a salad - the fish was done to perfection, and the salad was a delicious mix of micro-greens with a lovely light dressing.
They are not open to the public everyday, so it would be wise to phone and check, and then book for your meal.
It is also advisable to try and park inside the grounds in the parking places allotted for members of the club - there were too many loiterers around for my liking.
The staff are friendly and efficient - and the ambience is good - reminiscent of a bygone era - but utterly charming.
I do feel that their website needs updating - as it seems as if they are only open to the public for Sunday lunch. An advert campaign on the local radio alerted us to the fact that we could actually eat there during the week.

This beautiful historical building lends itself to the welcoming restaurant staff. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced.
