“Lovely outing”
Review of Seaview Lion Park

Seaview Lion Park
Reviewed October 1, 2012

It is close to Port Elizabeth and we managed to see some game wandering which was excellent. There were lions, leopards and tigers in enclosures as well as white lion cubs and a variety of other animals with lovely views from the restaurant.

Before volunteering at a Wildlife reserve, a group of us decided to visit Seaview Lion park while staying in Port Elizabeth. We were hoping to be able to compare our experience at the lion park to our upcoming experience with wild animals at the reserve. The staff at Seaview were very professional, demonstrated a keen interest and care for the animals and were open to answering all our questions. We were concerned about the treatment and facilities for the animals and were pleased to find that the lions had large enclosures and seemed happy and cared for. We decided to do the encounters with the lion cubs and black leopard. It was great to see that the staff only allowed one person in with the black leopard cub and two at a time with the lion cubs. We got to sit with the cubs, pet them and ask questions of the staff. They were also great with offering to take photos with our camera. We then walked around the park to see the other animals such as lions, tigers, meerkats, croc and hyenas. We also got a chance to watch a feeding of the lions! Overall, we thought that the park was a fun experience, very affordable and the animals seemed well cared for.

I volunteered here in 2008 and after 2 days I asked for my money back. The project was advertised as a lion release program....not even close. All they do here is breed cats so the public can pay to hold them and take a picture. When I was there they only had lions. Now I see they have tiger and leopard cubs, disgraceful. Once they cats are too old to be with the public they are farmed out in the back area of the property. Cubs are taken away from their mother at about 1 week old and put on display for the paying public. The cubs are so young that volunteers need to assist the cubs in order to allow them to urinate or deficate. It's very well known that once these cubs are hand raised by people they can NEVER be released back out into the wild. The public needs to start becoming more educated in regards to these facilities which allow lion cub interactions for pure profit. Please, help put a stop to these actions!!!

Fantastic collection of wild cats... white lion/lioness, Bengal tiger/tigress. Our kids had a great time playing with Shaaza - the white lioness that follows the kids up & down from inside her cage.

Their cafe/restaurant is nicely located on top of the hill with fantastic panorama views

Took family from the Uk to visit, saw widelife from the minute we entered the park, although a little bumpy ride in your own vehicel its worth it. The hands on with the cubs is a must
