Attraction details
Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Lush coastal forest and grassland is home to vast herds of African game, including White Rhino, Buffalo, Cheetah, Giraffe, Zebra, Nyala, Bontebok, Lechwe and many more species. All the animals roam freely, unrestricted in natural surroundings. This owner operated animal friendly park, where no hunting or other disturbance of the game is permitted, means that you always get close up views and great photo opportunities. Take a drive in your own vehicle through the park on the well-maintained roads and enjoy viewing the game in any weather conditions from the comfort of your car. For those really close encounters, choose the 2 hour guided tour in an open Landrover with a professional guide providing you with interesting information on the animals and the historical background to the area.

“Good overall experience”

Unique experience, one encounters the animals as soon you enter the park. Kids loved the fact that a giraffe was within touching range, within 3 minutes of passing the security check. Living in the brick chalets was very comfortable. Units are self catering and cater for the basic requirements. The unit we were in, had clearly been in use for several years now and its was a little obvious that some additional upkeep is required.Animals roam free and we often had visitors in the form of wild boar or ostriches at the chalet. Unfortunately the weather was a little rainy, which meant that the outdoor activities were limited. Interesting walk to reception and restuarant passing a cheetah enclosure; one cannot simply stroll across the grass due to the wild animals. !
Overall recommended experience, especially for city based visitors that have only seen animals in cages or have only experienced the usual zoo tour.

From the moment you drive into the park, you see the animals. Buck, giraffe, warthog, zebra. Never a dull moment at Kragga Kamma. We go there often - always a treat!

“Wonderfully relaxed game reserve in the city limits”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013

You won't be greeted with a martini but this little gem is laid-back game viewing that doesn't cost the earth. We had a lovely day out with our British guests who really enjoyed themselves. We spotted nearly all of the animals on our leaflet given to us at the front gate and managed to get some amazing pictures.

It was a baking hot day so the lovely cool cafe was a welcomed break halfway through our drive. The meals won't blow you away but the drinks are ice-cold and the service is great.

If you have the time and a spare R100 you could even venture into the cheetah enclosure and give one a pat. Obviously supervised by one of the trained members of staff. You will find that just behind the cafe. Ask a staff member, sign a form and off you go. Makes for fab photos.

“Good Budget Reserve”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

You can spend a lot of money in South Africa if you are not careful. From the outrageous tolls charging seemingly random amounts of money form R35 to R50 all the way home to the Airport on the N2/N3 and ONLY SA cards accepted you'll need to save some cash if you;re driving about on the main highways. That's why every now and again to see something that is genuinely good value, like KK GP is a rarer site in the developing South Africa. Some of the bugger parks charged differently if you are a resident or not so might be worth taking a "Saffe"r along if you can get one :)

Anyway, we saw lots of animals closer than other parks, but it was a short trip but good for younger travellers as the game was a bit more accessible in addition to some caged up big cats in a secure area half way around where you can stop for a cool drink etc... There's also a walk way for monkeys if you cross the rope bridge.

Good Value
