“Great views and wonderful breakfast”
Reviewed December 5, 2011

We dropped in here for a couple of nights on our way up the garden route. Pam is a great host and the location to the beach is perfect. The view from the deck was great. Our daughter was with us and while the room was small (we had been told it would be) - it was all fine and the deck meant we had a lot of running room. All in all a very nice place to spend a couple of nights.

We really enjoyed our stay at Dolphins' Playground. Pam is a delightful and most hospitable host. Our room was upgraded which is always a good start! We were then offered wine which was enjoyed in front of the fire on a chilly winter's night.

Our room was well-appointed and stylishly decorated with beautiful art and furniture. It was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The bathroom offered both a bath and shower, with quality complimentary toiletries. The king size bed was very comfortable and had high quality white linen.

The B&B is in a superb location, virtually on the beach. Bay day one can enjoy the wonderful views and by night, be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves.

A delicious Continental or English breakfast is served on the lovely terrace. We appreciated the small touches on the breakfast table (you'll have to book in to see what I'm referring to...).

Sadly we only stayed one night and we will definitely stay longer next time.

Coming from Hermanus we had a great time where Pam is so great in hosting, delivery a great breakfast and helps whenever it is needed. The terrace is wonderful - you see the beach, have the silence, enjoy the sun all day long and can walk just 2 minutes to the outstanding beach.

Super helpful - Pam offered to wash our used clothes. Brilliant service !

There are no wishes left - we are coming back whenever possible.

Thanks
Pam

We stayed here for three nights and I couldn't agree more with some of the other reviews. Pam is a wonderful hostess. She makes you feel welcome and staying at the Dolphin's Playground is like being at home. The rooms are beautiful. The breakfasts are superb. The views are amazing - ocean facing view and we even managed to spot dolphins in the surf one morning and seals the next - unfortunately we missed the whales as we arrived a monthly early but I can only imagine the wonderful views from Pam's deck during whale watchhing season. Pam is always willing to assist and provided us with some wonderful insight to our surroundings and places to see which we truly appreciated. I highly recommend Dolphins' Playground - a beautiful place to stay with a super hostess. We will definitely be staying there again.

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. As all the other reviews have said, Pam is a wonderful hostess. She is very friendly and wants to ensure that everyone enjoys their time in Plettenberg Bay, advising on where to go, what to do and local restaurants. She gave us a very useful map and marked various restaurants on it. The breakfasts are lovely, eaten on the deck overlooking the ocean and we were lucky enough to see dolphins go by one day! A lovely touch is to put a flag of your home country on the breakfast table - its certainly a talking point! Patience is also a very lovely lady, always smiling and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was very luxurious with wonderful views of the ocean on 2 sides.
The area is very a very nice residential area and felt quite safe, although it was a 5-10 min drive to the village.
We would certainly recommend Dolphins Playground and hope to return!

We stayed at Dolphins’ Playground on the 14th and 15th October 2010. Arriving after a rather wet and dispiriting day our welcome from Pam, the owner, couldn’t have been better. Tea and biscuits on the large deck during a brief sunny interval set the scene. The view over the ocean and of the Robberg Peninsula was great and would give good views of southern right whales and bottlenose dolphins should they swim past, whilst the swing seat is ideal for relaxation. The beautiful Robberg beach is only a few minutes walk away, and the area appeared to be very safe.

We stayed in the smallest room, but as it has a huge bathroom, storage space was not a problem. Pam emphasised that visitors are welcome to use the comfortable lounge, so all you really need to do in the bedroom is sleep! That you should be able to do without a problem as the bed was extremely comfortable. There is a fridge with an honesty bar on the deck, and tea and coffee making facilities in the room together with cookies. The rooms open out onto the deck, where on our second day as the weather had improved we had a good breakfast, the hot part of which was freshly cooked.

Pam is very knowledgeable about the area, what to do, where to go and what to see. Her recommendations of where to eat were spot on for us. She even gave us a map of Plettenberg Bay, and marked the various restaurants on it for us. We ate on our first evening at the Med Seafood Bistro which was excellent. As we’d had a good lunch the following day at the Brammon Wine Estate we didn’t want too much that evening so visited the Italian Restaurant Cornuti Al Mare and shared a Pizza – again a very enjoyable meal. Returning to Dolphins’ Playground we found Pam chatting to her friend. We were invited to join them and spent the rest of the evening exchanging views on a variety of subjects.

Dolphins’ Playground is a very comfortable, immaculately clean B&B with a very friendly and helpful hostess in a lovely area of Plettenberg Bay. It is not a boutique hotel and doesn’t profess to be one, but provides good value accommodation for Plett. We would certainly recommend Dolphins’ Playground to our friends.
