My wife and I spent 3 wonderful nights at this gem of a guest house in Plettenberg Bay.

As October is really early holiday season in South Africa, we could have chosen from numerous guest houses/ hotels but we are so glad that we opted for this one.

The views are so amazing and the staff are so friendly that you could be tempted into never leaving the place to spend time at the newarby beach or bars/restaurants.

Glenn, Judy and their staff are great hosts.

Definitely one of the highlights of our holiday.

Our party of two couples spent three nights at Ocean Watch. Beautifully decorated and in fanastic location overlooking bay and within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops. We had excellent large airy rooms with stunning views and there is also the bonus of several sitting areas within the house for guests to use. Judy and Glen are great, friendly hosts - nothing seems too much bother. The staff are friendly and efficient - one of the best places we stayed during our 2 weeks in SA.

Stayed for 2 nights at the wonderful Ocean Watch. Before we even arrived after making the reservation I knew that Judy and Glenn the owners would be lovely people...and I wasnt wrong. The Ocean Watch is a lovely guesthouse and the views from this property are simply breathtaking. My parties rooms were so comfortable and had everything that you would need. We have travelled extensively worldwide and without a doubt the view from the bathroom of the 'Shell' Room would be hard to beat ! The fantastic breakfasts cooked to order every morning by Jessica were the best we had on the trip and it was great to eat breakfast on the terrace watching the weaver birds in the trees. Judy and Glenn did everything to make your stay the best it could be and NOTHING was too much trouble for them. They are available to you literally 24 hours a day. You are within walking distance of restaurants, bars and shops and the fantastic hosts will recommend places to see and do in the area. Highly recommended

We stayed at Ocean Watch for one night during our trip around South Africa. We loved everything about it!

The guesthouse is very conveniently located in a quiet street in the center of Plettenberg Bay, just a couple minutes walk away from the restaurants and the shops. It has a lovely marine touch and there is a high level of attention for details (the chessboard with the lighthouses was soooo nice!). It has a beautiful terrace from which you enjoy a magnificent view of the bay! We really appreciated the tea we were served on the terrace upon our arrival. From the terrace, you can spot whales in the bay!

Our suite included a main bedroom, spacious and elegantly furnished, and a second room with two separate beds that we used for storing our luggage. The bathroom was ok and it had plenty of toiletries. We found fresh flowers in our room, another touch we appreciated. All the communal areas (breakfast lounge, pool area etc.) were also furnished with extreme elegance

We were staying in the Caribbean suite.

This was a tough review for us, while 3 stars does seem a little harsh for a guest house that can boast lovely friendly staff, with a beautiful setting over Plettenberg Bay and within easy reach of the main steet, we felt the overall score was justified. Ocean Watch was by far the most expensive guest house we stayed in over the two weeks of our Honeymoon in South Africa and we really feel that we didn't get value for money, when compared to the other wonderful places we stayed in.

While our room had lovely views, it was small, tired, had no shower, the plumbing was dodgy and made funny noises, the toilet seat was cracked, the carpet was worn in places and even the french sliding doors seemed a old and slightly rusty as though they'd been there for a while. If we hadn’t of paid top dollar for the room, you could’ve overlooked these problems.

On arrival as the guest house was quiet we were very kindly allowed to choose our room on the top floor, and wandering through all of them, they all just seem a little tired.

While the communal areas were well appointed and airy, it was the little things like at breakfast, while there was a lovely spread, the plastic menus were dirty, sticky and falling apart. We walked away thinking that while Judy and her gang were very lovely and charming, it was as if they were looking at the big picture and were ignoring the detail. Other things like Judy knew we had to leave promptly on the day of check out and when we were ready to leave, she had gone off site. Ok we didn’t have to wait long for her to come back, but again we just felt it wasn’t very professional.

While we certainly don’t enjoy giving out bad reviews, overall we just felt that you were paying top dollar for a guest house that did not provide value for money.

My boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights in the Ocean Watch guesthouse as a part of our 2 week trip through the Cape. Because of our work we travel all around the world but even in the luxurious 5 star hotels we never experienced such a high level of hospitality as we experienced here!!Glenn and Judy are the most welcoming hosts you can imagine and they make sure that you feel at home!!They just feel exactly what your needs are and they do everything in there power to help you!The guesthouse is wonderful situated with fantastic views of the ocean, beautiful decorated rooms with comfortable beds and the best breakfast we had during our 2 week stay in South Africa. If you are planning to stay in Plettenberg, don't look further but stay at an Ocean Watch, you will not be disappointed!!!
