“The perfect place to stay”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

We spent 3 nights here which was the highlight of our holiday. The hotel is in a fantastic location with amazing views across the bay. It is beautifully maintained and the staff are professional and helpful. Our room had a sea view and was spacious with lovely furnishings. The bathroom was modern and really nicely fitted out.
We ate in the restaurant 3 times and it simply superb which surprised us, as hotel restaurants are so often disappointing. We also ate in several restaurants in Franscchoek which we were told was the gourmet capital of South Africa but none of them came close to this restaurant.
We stayed in the wing across the road and my only criticism is that the wifi signal is poor.

Room Tip: It is worth paying extra for a room with a sea view.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon and it was a beautiful hotel. We were greeted by very courteous staff and were notified that we had been upgraded to a suite. The suite was very spacious and immaculate, with great sea views. Wi fi was available with a good signal. TV also available with a decent variety of channels. The hotel is also very well located beside a beautiful beach. The breakfast was excellent with plenty fruit, cereals and coffee/tea. The cooked breakfast, which you could choose from a menu was just delicious.
We ate in the restaurant one evening and the meal was superb.
We also had a few drinks in the bar and the prices were very good.
The only 2 down points (which are very very minor!!)...we would have liked the general staff to have been a little more engaging....while they were extremely polite and professional we would have liked to chat more with them to learn more about the area. Also the cocktails were lovely but we found it hard to taste the alcohol....maybe being from Ireland we are just too used to strong drinks but overall it was a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms are great but a sea view is just amazing.

The Plettenburg Hotel is an excellent hotel in a beautiful location, with amazing views across the bay. The hotel is tastefully decorated and very well maintained. It's helpful and friendly staff are immaculate in their appearance and they provide a first class service.
We had a large seaview room, which was worth every penny; the room was spacious and modern and the bathroom was luxurious with larger than average good quality towels.
Small criticisms: wifi coverage could be better and the water pressure was a little low.

The Plettenberg was our last stop in South Africa - and what a perfect way to end. The staff are excellent; friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The management team are also keen to check that all is well -and do this personally. The food and wine are 10/10 and we were fortunate to be there for the monthly wine tasting. The wine and food are matched to perfection -go to this event if you are able to.
We will certainly be returning on our next trip to SA.

My wife & I stay there for three nights having stayed in her sister hotel in Constantis several years ago. The location is excellent close to the ocean, really quiet with high standard room, exemplary service and wonderful food.
Having a pre dinner drink outside on the terrace was an absolute delight.
This is one of the very best small hotels that I have stayed in.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view, and I preferred the upper floor. Note, I did not use the Spa or fit...

This is an amazing boutique hotel for the discerning world traveller. The staff are wonderful and the service truly fantastic.Johan was thoroughly professional and a great help. The feeling was being in a wonderful house rather than a hotel, with a lovely decor and very thoughtful selection of interiors.

Room Tip: The suite was perfect with a picture postcard view of the sea and Bay!!

This was an excellent stay at "The Plettenberg". We enjoyed very much the friendlyness of the staff. The Food - we had a Seafood-Platter - was one of the best we ever had so far. The location is great, swimming in the Swimming Pool with that excellent view to the Sea - just WOW ......... The view out of our Room was beautiful.
