“Excellent hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012

We really loved our stay at this lovely hotel. The staff were very friendly, the room had stunning views over the lagoon and sea! Breakfast was lovely. Only thoughts are that the carpets in passages are really getting very tired! The bathroom can also do with a bit of an update! The shower door opens into another door and you cannot get to the towel heater behind the shower door once in the shower! Architects fault not the hotel staff though! Also just an idea, but the other Relais and Chateaux establishments we visited this past year all had a NESPRESSO machine in the room and that is really a good idea especially during the winter months! Also a beach bag (complimentary- that could advertise the hotel!) seems to be the norm elsewhere! We would definitely come back though!

Room Tip: A lagoon view!

Once again, my wife and I had an absolutely wonderful evening at the Plettenberg Hotel. Thanks so much to the Manager Lisa Knight and her wonderful staff. We have visited this hotel on numerous occasions and will be going there for years to come still.

Room Tip: Room 36 is the best, but then again, all rooms have views and are just simply luxurious.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 days. This is our second stay at this outstanding hotel. I cannot speak highly enough of the location, the room, the food, the staff and the management. We observed the general manager serving breakfast when all hands on deck was required. Writing this I am simply speechless. It is so good. And we are not easily impressed.

Room Tip: I don't think The Plettenberg has anything other than good rooms.

Location location location...... Spend four nights in this splendid and truly magnificent hotel. Had rooms facing the main pool with astonishing views overlooking the bay and with easy access to the restaurant. Lunch fine, dinner even better and the advise given by the sommelier made the evening even better. Can only recommend this exquisite establishment.

An absolute delight from the very first cocktail.... This little gem of an hotel welcomes you with open arms and never once lets up! We stayed overnight as part of their Gourmet Package ( incredible value ) . You just KNOW when you have struck gold - It's not often you find a General Manager (Lisa) of an establishment so dedicated and hands on . The staff are warm and friendly and certainly go the extra mile !

My wife and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon and I can't say enough as to what the staff did to make our stay memorable. When we returned from our dinner we found our room decorated with rose petals, a hot bath had been drawn with candles and more flowers, champagne, and chocolates. We were so grateful for the attention we received. It was very special.

Beyond that the staff were very friendly and the accomadations were excellent. Our room had a fantastic view of the beach and the ocean. The grounds were all well kept and the hotel common areas were very comfortable. The staff even brought us snacks and drinks as we lounged in the common area so my wife could pet the two "five star kitties" that live in the hotel.

We had dinner at the Sand restaurant and took a picture it looked and tasted so good. The breakfast buffet was wonderful as well. We helped our selves to the juices, fruit, yogurt, cereals, chesses, and were also made breakfast omelets and french toast.

The hotel is walking distance to the beach below, but we didn't swim as the weather was pretty chilly in April. We were also walking distance to the town, but it's a bit of an uphill hike, so we drove up instead.

The Plettenberg is a fantastic stay and truly 5 star service.

Room Tip: Get one that faces the East so you can catch a sunrise over the beach.
