“Peace & tranquility epitomized”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014 via mobile

So the summer holidays are a time to unwind & recharge the batteries. My wife & I discovered that a place of peace & tranquility is a pre-requisite to achieve this. We checked in for 7 nights and this became our base, our home from home as we explored the Plettenberg Bay Area. Our 50's/60's-style ground floor room with direct pool access was the perfect place to enjoy a late afternoon drink and a quick dip in the pool. Inga, the hostess was invisible and yet ever present taking care of our every need. Breakfast was promptly served every morning on the upstairs balcony with a distant view of the shoreline. We really enjoyed our stay and have returned home ready for the challenges of 2014.

What a lovely place this is situated minutes walk from N2, the famous Plettenberg bay, a huge shopping centre where you can do your food shopping and the town centre. Inge, the daughter, did look after us very well giving us lots of information and organising our trips for us. We were left to do our own thing so you don't feel as if the owners are watching your every step kind of thing which made us feel at home. They get on with their lives downstairs letting you do your own thing upstairs chilling out, cooking, etc. Frankly it just felt like as if we'd rented the whole house to ourselves. The room we had was huge with a nice shower and a bath tub. There was even a small fridge and a microwave. We also enjoyed their generous breakfast very much sitting on the balcony looking at the beach and the sea. Although it would have been better if they served homemade jam and local honey rather than mass produced ones but we can't have everything can we? We would highly recommend this place and like to assure you that you won't be disappointed! Oh, there was a decanter of sweet red wine waiting for us in the room on our arrival and they topped it up everyday. It tasted similar to sherry only a lot nicer. It was one of the nicest drinks I have ever drunk what a nice gesture. Shame we can't stay here any longer.

We had a wonderful stay here. Gorgeous views, beautiful rooms to make you feel relaxed and at home... very spacious and excellent detail. Excellent recommendations of restaurants and things to do plus a discount was given on a couple of attractions. We had wonderful service yet lots of privacy. Would also be a lovely place to stay if travelling with friends - gorgeous balcony to relax, enjoy and there is even a braai. We enjoyed it so much we stayed and extra night and I would stay again if returning to the area. Excellent value for money. We payed more for much less in neighbouring Knysna prior to staying here.

This is a super place to stay, so full of quirky character that its minor imperfections don’t seem to matter. Our room had a 1950’s/Marilyn Monroe theme to it, with its own terrace and opening on to the garden where there is a nice pool. Plettenberg Bay is a fabulous location, and this guest house is only a few minutes away from the idyllic beach. Breakfast is served on the upper level, overlooking the bay, and was very good, with a cooked breakfast efficiently served. Run by the owner and her daughter in a very friendly fashion, with two dogs and a cat to fuss.

Wonderful stay at Whale of a View. Inga looked after all the guests professionally & superbly well. The B&B has incredible features in the public rooms & the bedrooms are beautifully different & refreshing in design. The owners don't hassle guest at all & you genuinely feel you have rented the property to yourself. This trusting laid back approach by the owners suited us perfectly & on the occasions we required anything e.g. advice on restaurants, taxi's etc they were on hand to help.
There really is nothing to dislike about this b&b or its location which is on the classier side of Plettenberg Bay & only a short stroll to beautiful beaches. It really is a Staggeringly wonderful place. Highly recommended.

This bed and breakfast is located in a gorgeous place, the view is awesome and the decor is funky and eclectic. The building is a very cute enclave with a gorgeous view of the Indian Ocean. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they even booked and suggested some awesome restaurants in the Main Street of plettenbirgh.

If you are accustomed to a boring standard hotel room and environment, this is not for you, however ,if you wish to stay and a beautiful home away from home, then this is for you.

Breakfast was incredible, all sorts of goodies, fruit, yogurt, cereal, English breakfast, tea, coffe, etc.

The day we arrived we had a nice little carafe of a delicious sweet liquor made locally. The decor in the rooms is quite funky mixing antiques with whimsical objects, they even had a beautiful Vitrola.

Come and stay here for a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, you will not be disappointed!

Unfortunately we had the "budget room" for one night. This room is very small, horrible decorated and right next to the living room of the owner, so there was not that much privacy. The bathroom needs to be renovated and could have been a bit cleaner. The breakfast was very good and the host was always very courteous. Overall it was ok and maybe we just booked the wrong room.
