My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in November. The location is spectacular with only the road between the main building and the beach. On arrival we had a nice welcome from Beth, and sitting in the very contemporary and beuatifully furnished lounge and dining room area, our first impressions were very favourable. However guests should be aware that not all the hotel is like this-our room, one of the cottage suites was very different in style-older,a bit colonial, and in my opinion still needing a bit of TLC-broken plugs,TV reception unpredictable and wi-fi very slow. The bathroom had apparently been refurbished recently, but there were parts of it that were a bit unsightly with poor workmanship.None of these things spoiled our stay, but when we told Beth of these things on check out there was no acceptance that anything was wrong, which was a shame.
However the rest of the stay-the breakfasts, the service, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was excellent, and if we were in Plett again,we would certainly consider staying here, but probably go for one of the more modern rooms.

Hi David - thanks for staying with us and for taking the trouble to write a good, balanced review. Thanks, first of all, for the compliments on the location, welcome, staff, service & common areas: these mean a lot to us. Thanks, too, for letting us know about some of the dropped balls in your room. You're right, we did refurbish - and in some cases completely rebuild - the Cottage Pie bathrooms this year. I'll follow up on the workmanship issues you raised, and get those sorted out. We also revamped our wi-fi provision in these rooms, so I'll enlist the help of our technical guru to check out why this wasn't working properly. Chantel has sorted out the plug and TV reception issue you experienced. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience on this, and grateful to you for letting us know, so that we can sort it out. Best wishes for the holiday season from all of us at The Robberg.

The Robberg was very relaxing and easy stay. The staff from the beginning (Beth and Chantel) were more than helpful and made the whole experience so much smoother. The property was beautiful and was in perfect condition. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others.

Well you had us at "relaxing and easy stay"... That's the kind of feedback that Chantel, Beth and the team get up for every day. Thanks for choosing us for your Plett holiday, and for your lovely review. Great to hear you had a good time with us: hope we see you again some day. Til then, have a great festive season and here's to 2014. Best wishes from us all.

A charming property comprising a number of premises located within enclosed grounds. A number of options, at differing prices, are available for booking.
The property overlooks an unspoilt Plettenberg Bay beach. It is about 10 minutes drive from the centre of Plettenberg Bay town. There is secure parking onsite for all cars.
Reception staff were polite, helpful and accommodating. Our unit - one of the basic options - was never-the-less well laid out, and furbished to a high standard with an excellent bathroom and bed. There was a small patio - which we actually had no spare time to use! The room seemed to be serviced more than once each day.
Breakfast in a nearby central unit was a grand affair and most enjoyable.
Wifi was available in our room with sufficient signal strength for our limited email / browsing activity. A good mini-safe was available for use. A well maintained pool, with loungers and seating around, was situated nearby but never used. Lounges for guest use were seemingly located at a number of points through the property.
Most enjoyable. Full stop.
Try the Robberg Nature Reserve if you get time. Spending a little time watching and there is plenty of wildlife to see - including offshore Whales and dolphins, on rocks below fur seals and a single elephant seal, etc etc. Entry 40 rand each from memory. Well worth it

Room Tip: If you are going out most of the day go for one of the cheaper room options. If you are staying on t...

Thanks for such a great and comprehensive review: it means a great deal to us that you experienced the Robberg Beach Lodge exactly as we see and experience it. And your recommendation of the Robberg Nature Reserve is spot on: a stay with us and a walk on the Reserve are good partners. From the whole team, thanks for staying with us, and for your kind words. We appreciate it. Our best wishes for the holiday season from all of us at The Robberg.

We recently stayed at the Robberg and I was blown away by the views the instant I walked in the door! Our room (a view suite) was spectacular, and the deck on the roof was fun for our family to go look out over the Ocean. The breakfast was divine - the croissants were fabulous. The only thing to watch for here is that the newer rooms (ie the view suite) are definitely better (+1 star) than the "Cottage Pie" rooms.

Hi Jeff - Thanks to you and your family for choosing us for your Plett holiday. I'm so glad you were able to get one of the View Suites, and that you enjoyed your stay. Glad, too, that you spent some time on the rooftop terrace: my favourite place to be, around 5pm in summer. I smiled when I read about the croissants... they're my downfall. The smell of them coming out of the oven kills me... Hope the rest of your holiday was wonderful and that we may be lucky enough to see you and the family again soon. Best wishes from all of us at the Robberg.

Beachy head villa is situated at the edge of the Indian Ocean. The view from the luxury suites is magnificent. And the sound of waves coming ashore helps you to relax.
The rooms are big and elegant equipped. The staff are kind, and you feel welcome. They are very helpful with any request, whenever it is booking restaurants, tours.
The breakfast is good and very we'll prepared.

This lodge is in a perfect setting right across from the beach. I watched the sun rise from our bedroom window - it was just lovely. The rooms are a reasonable size and we had a little patio outside of our room. The communal sitting areas are in keeping with a "beach house" feel. Breakfast was pleantiful and delicious, the staff were helpful and provided great tips on where to go to eat (thanks Beth). It is a short taxi ride into Plettenberg central area so if you want to be near the action this is not the place for you. If you want a peaceful place and a lovely beach then stay here. There are barbques and an honesty bar so it could be easy to cook an evening meal or lunch. We ordered in pizza one night and the staff were great at providing plates and cutlery,

Room Tip: ask for an ocean view on the main floor

We recently returned from a four week vacation in South Africa and Botswana. It was the vacation of a lifetime! We spent the first two weeks on safaris in both countries, then traveled the last two along the garden route from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town. Along the way, we stopped at the Robberg Beach Lodge. The accommodations were spectacular! Everything was very clean, the staff were not only friendly but the host was very informative, giving us great tips on where to eat and what to see. The room was right on the ocean and the view and sound of the ocean was remarkable. The Robberg Reserve juts into the ocean and provides great hiking and more wonderful views. This is a must stay if you are anywhere in the vicinity. on top of all this, the breakfast was excellent too.

Room Tip: choose an ocean view room!
