We went & looked at the restaurant & checked out the menu before booking for the first night as it was my birthday & we wanted to get it right & did!
The setting was lovely, the food was superb with excellent presentation and good wine. The food was always perfectly cooked and seasoned with a delicate touch which enhanced but never overpowered the food.
The waiting staff were extremely friendly & attentive without being “over the top”
We decided to book a return visit for the third night of our stay but thought we would try a highly recommended alternative for the second. After leaving that one without ordering we went back to Lemon Grass & threw ourselves on their mercy to find us an empty table, which they did.
On our return journey we went past Plettenberg & called in for a lunch which again did not disappoint.

Like the last time, dinner was perfect
The King Klip was excellent, juicy and very tasty. We started with an Graham Beck Brut, and had some unwooded Chaedonnay for dinner. The price incl. appetizer, main course and wines were about R 550

With the help of a little forward planning, the decision to stay in the hotel and use the Lemon Grass restaurant was an excellent one.The food, service and the birthday cake were of an extremely high standard, with the table decorated with a lovely arrangement of proteas. I would thoroughly recommend it.

The setting is truly wonderful on the Lookout Lagoon, and so well constructed to give dinners great views. The service stands out as from the moment you arrive until you leave you are well and truly looked after. In both of these departments Lemon Grass is 5 star +!

The menu is a disappointment in what it offers and how it is presented, and seems out of line with everything else. Fortunately tonight we just wanted a basic meal and settled for soup and a curry. The honest assessment was that our home made leek and potato soup and thai green curry was streets better, but we still enjoyed our meal. However we couldn't help thinking that with a bit more imagination and a better chef the food offer could be soooo much better.
