“Challenging walk but worth it”

Robberg Nature Reserve

We did the spectacular long walk right round the nature reserve. It was very challenging and, in places, downright dangerous. There are steep, sheer drops and a bit of mountain climbing just to get the adrenaline going! As you enter the reserve you are asked to provide your mobile number and sign a release form waiving any responsibility for injury. Make sure you wear good walking shoes/trainers, take water and put on sun cream. Excellent way to spend a morning!

We took the big tour around Robberg and it was just great. This was one of the highlights of the whole Garden Route - it is a MUST. So people if you are there - hike around and have fun. If you want to top the beauty of nature, stay in the "Coral Tree Cottages" (including Adventure Land) between Knysna and Plettenburg - ask for Shirley, you will love it - Have fun Anita from Austria

A peninsula just to the west of Plettenberg Bay that provides a good days walk (9 k to the tip and back) along a well marked trail that follows the top of the cliffs, descending down to the rocky shores at the tip of the peninsula and then to the most beautiful sandy beach - itself linked to a small 'island'. This is not a stroll - proper walking shoes needed and a lot of up and down and over rocks. All along the left side of the peninsula are fur seal colonies - you can smell and then hear them before seeing the seals on the rocks and in the clear water. A previous visit in October had whales in the bay and in the ocean. No facilities so bring some water and rations.

What a great hike around a beautiful nature reserve. Bring water! It's a 7km walk. You can see an active seal colony, great beaches, and rock scrambles. Do not wear flip-flops!

This island is beautiful for hiking, with a few different trails of around 1km, 5km and 9km. The scenery is stunning!
