Loved every bit of the trail and there is something for everyone, cliffs, beaches, scenery, geology, flora, fauna. Not to be missed.

“Beautiful place”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

We walked round this reserve in August. We did the middle route. You need trainers as there are some steep and rocky bits, but the views are fantastic. We saw a seal swimming in the sea. It is well worth visiting.

“Beautiful but a bit dangerous”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

Robberg Nature Reserve is a beautiful peninsula in Plettenberg Bay.
The entrance fee is 40 rands. You have a parking area in the Reserve. The only toilets are also there. There are no restaurants, no place to buy something to eat or drink. So, bring water! and very good shoes!!!!
You can go around the whole island but you can also choose shorter trails. We decided to walk the 9 km (the longest trail).
It is recommended to walk clockwise. The first trail - The Gap - is short, only 2 km more or less but you will not see the sea lions. Only if you walk up - at least - Witsand, you will have the opportunity to see them on the beach. If you are brave and in good fit, you can go up The Point. It is beautiful and we saw some dolphins. If you are lucky, you will see whales.
However, note that the return from The Point is DANGEROUS. It is not easy. You have to walk and climb some slippery rocks and in some areas it is very windy. Do not try to do it if you are unfit or on thongs! Do not go if it is raining (Anyway, I guess the Reserve is closed when it rains). I would not go with children (but you could do the shorter trail with them).
There is a shack at The Point where - I understand - you can spend the night but you have to book it in advance (Phone 021 659 3500).
Good luck and be careful!

“Wear strong boots”
Reviewed September 25, 2012 via mobile

This reserve is well worth a visit and there are several different options and lengths of walks that you can do but go prepared. We did the full route in 4 hours, absolutely brilliant but challenging in places. You do not have to walk far to appreciate the views so worth a visit for everyone.

“So beautiful”

I really recommend checking it out. Take swim wear, picnic, camera, friends! I even got to see a big shark swimming of the cliff side of the peninsula.
