We recently went to Emily Moon for dinner for the second time, as we enjoyed our first time in August so much!

Once again- Emily Moon never fails to please the palate. We enjoyed the delicious duck confit recommended by the waiter, as well as the fillet. The food was delicious, and their winelist is very good.

The restaurant itself is beautiful, so I suggest popping in for sundowners before settling down to a scrumptious dinner.

I think their pricing is exceptionally fair, especially when comparing to below-average restaurants in and around Plett.

This was a birthday treat. All courses were of a very high quality, particularly the Karoo lamb and the service was excellent. The wine list was very good with many available by the glass. The atmosphere and setting were great.
It was also very good value.

We have to admit this is the first time tripadvisor ratings misled us when it comes to restaurants.
We have been traveling in South Africa for 3 weeks, and this the first real disappointment.
We love food. It doesn't have to be fancy, but simply prepared well, with the best available ingredients. And the one thing this country has for sure, is great ingredients.
But it takes some doing to take great ingredients and serve mediocre food.
someone should tell the chef to let the ingredients speak for themselves.
And it takes some doing to disappoint so much to write such a review right after the meal.
The cons -
1. If you serve boboti samousas, you don't need 3 different sauces, and you definitely don't need to serve Japanese pickled ginger on the plate as garnish just because you have sushi at the restaurant. It. Has nothing to do with theft tastes of the dish!
2. If you want to serve olive oil and balsamic vinegar with the bread, which was very good by the way, you really should serve a plate in which to pour them. They are supposed to go on you bread plate.
3. If you want to serve a beef fillet, you should really try not to scorch the outside of the steak, something which is really difficult to do with a medium-rare fillet. Definitely not the best fillet in the country, but actually the worst fillet we've had in 3 weeks
4. What on earth makes you put a spoonful of pesto sauce on your salmon steak, in addition to very strong opposing flavours of the prawn and pea risotto garnishing the same dish, which was too watery for a Risotto, with way too much dill.
5. The last straw was the dessert. The only dish that was bad enough to return. You cannot attempt to caramelize a lemon tart, in a way that makes you end up with a runny luke warm lemon custard inside a way too hard pastry that is best suited for tartlettes rather than a larger slice of tart.
6. The pricing compared to other places in south Africa that serve better produce and better food is off. I have no problem paying more for food that is deserving. But this is just not the case.
The pros - great location, good service, good atmosphere. But we were looking for food.
