My boyfriend and I stayed here on our second night down the garden route. It was the cheapest of all our backpackers, we had a large on suite bathroom with separate shower and tub, also our own private balcony. The bed was comfortable, but the fluff on the bedding did come off on our hair and clothes. I am sure this backpackers is far more pumping in season, but the staff were still friendly and helpful.
Overall good value for money, fun party place.

Thank your for your review and I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us.

I have addressed the problem regarding the bedding in the room. It appears that one of our newer duvet covers is wearing a bit more than our other bedding.

Travel safe.

Regards

Dave

We stayed here in peak season but it was still so quiet and laid back! Such friendly and helpful staff who organized everything we wanted to do from booking a restaurant to taking a taxi to visit the cheetah sanctuary!! Really good location close to the main street and baz bus stop which is good!
Our room was a private double and was really clean and nice views but we didn't have hot water for one of the nights/days. Kitchen was very clean as well!
We will be back one day I'm sure.

Thans for taking the time to do a review of your stay with us.

I am glad that you enjoyed your time in Plettenberg Bay.

Apologies about the hot water. We had a heat pump installed to assist with energy saving and it appears that one of the timer settings was incorrect and so was not adequete when we were busy. This has been adjusted.

Regards

Dave.

Traveled with hostels and backpackers for over 1 year. This backpackers is one of the best accommodations. They have everything travellers want and need. Staff was so friendly, maybe more than a staff, like a friend. They were helpful as well. anything you need, just go to the receiption and ask. They will do all they can do for you. The room was perfect. Clean and cozy. Definitely want to go back there if I visit Platt again. Thanks for everything!

Room Tip: no swimming pool

All the places recommended by the staff worked out! The room was very comfortabel and clean. The only thing that was a little bit anoying was the police car outsite. We continiously heard the radio buzzing.

I stayed at the Amakaya Backpackers for two nights and had a really good time. Staff was very helpful with finding out what to do in Plettenberg Bay and around (thanks again for the shuttle service, it really was an experience to go by motor bike). Nice and clean rooms (stayed in a dorm), liked the atmosphere.

Although I have only stayed in around 5-10 hostels during my lifetime, Amakaya is definitely that which I was the most fond of and would recommend any backpacker looking for somewhere in Plettenberg Bay to choose. my flatmate and myself went to for a long weekend to Plett Bay and picked Amakaya not sure what to expect. After making the booking over the phone (where i spoke to the wonderful and friendly manager Dave and on another occassion the friendly co-owner Dorothy) I was sure they'd be welcoming hosts and i wasn't disappointed. We arrived a few days later to be greeted by Dave at recepion who not only spent over anhour talking to us about things to see neary but also advised on the other places to see on th rest of the garden route towards Port Elizabeth! We were really overwhlemed. We then met another lovely co-owner named Mary who made us feel welcome as well. Dave then showed us around the hostel (which is more like an extended house) The rooms and facilities are all wonderful. The rooms were very neat and clean and there was a nice lounge (including a TV and DVD, computer with Internet access), kitchen, bathroom, bar area and balcony we were allowed to use. We really felt a part of the household within an hour or two and to top it all off a wood fire as lit later in the evening and all the fellow guests and ourselves all sat round and chatted. My flatmate and felt really like we were teenagers out on a summer camp!

Anyway, I can't praise Amakaya enough. It is a lovely little guesthouse which Im sure all people looking for somewhere fun, clean, cosy and welcoming will have a fantastic time staying at.
