Mellanie met us outside the apartment and showed us the place, she was very friendly. The apartment was clean and nicely decorated. Beds were comfortable (hard mattress) and all the rooms had a small heater/radiator on the wall if needed. There were blankets in the living room. Plenty of channels in tv to choose from, some books in english and a scrabble. Kitchen had the basic equipment, but no reserve of spices and such, no sugar. There were salt & pepper shakers but they only had a bit inside. No coffee maker, there was a french press and water boiler. Toiletries you need to bring yourself. Towels were provided. There was a washing machine and dishwasher.
The neighborhood seemed safe to walk around. Beach is at a walking distance, as well as a restaurant and a kwikspar. Around the corner from the apartment were a butchery and a bakery. The apartment is nicely situated for fast acces to the bigger roads. Living room had a big pile of pamphlets of all the things to do around the area and even a bit further away.
Personally I can recommend going to Jukani wildlife sanctuary to see some rescued wild animals. There are plenty of places a driving distance away for some unique gift shopping (The Mill & The Porcupine, Old Nick Village). Multiple wineries for wine tasting (Plettenvale is a small but interesting winery).
