“Excellent food, abysmal service”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

Although our party of 13 were the only people in the restaurant apart from one other couple, we waited considerably more than an hour for our orders. The food, when it eventually came, was delicious and beautifully presented, but the service was totally unacceptable. After waiting another eternity for dessert it turned out they'd forgotten about one person's order, who ended up without any dessert because we couldn't risk waiting another hour. Although the chef obviously knows what (s)he is doing, they clearly can't cope with more than a handful of diners at a time. One shudders to think what would happen if the place was packed....

“Waited over 2.5 hours for our food”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

There was no manager in sight on a very busy night at the restaurant. Waited over 2.5 hours for food for our table. Everytime we followed up we were told they were "dishing up the food now" however that took over an hour.

“Cuisine let down.”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

Our lunch took place at roughly 2pm on the 30th December 2012.
It turned out we were the last table of people to be served, which may be the reason for our below average experience. We were informed that we had ten minutes to make our decision on meals as the kitchen was approaching closing time for the year.
We were keen to have a taste only of the chili poppers, so I asked how many we're in a portion, and was informed that there were three. Being four of us we needed to order two portions to have one each. When brought there were 4 per portion. It may seem strange to complain about a bigger portion, but this is why I enquired how many per portion, as we only wanted one each, but now had double what we wanted.
We ordered our mains, which included 2 portions of Calamari. We were informed promptly enough that the calamari was no longer available, and had to select something else.
We chose a grilled hake, and asked if there was avocado for the THAI chicken salad. We were told yes, so settled the order. When the main course arrived, we noticed no avocado on the salad. I informed the waiter that we had asked about the avocado for a reason, he took the salad away to sort out the problem. The manager returned, telling us they had no avocado.
Therefore the meals we ended up with we're two portions of overcooked and dry hake, one Grilled chicken and lettuce salad (nothing Thai about the chicken), and one acceptable but half the worth of the menu price mutton curry.
The manager did not charge for the salad to offer an apology.
We would however have preferred to pay for and receive the correct meals.

“Good Food, Great View”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Took my visiting cousin and her husband (from Australia) to La Vida for lunch today. Family all had the hake, which they said was very good. I had the Trinchado, which is a starter. Had enough meat for a starter and was smothered in a generous helping of sauce, which was very tasty and spicy. Had a bit of a kick to it as well but that was probably my low tolerance for chilli.

The view at Lavida is awesome. We didn't sit outside because of the weather, but we had window seats overlooking the ocean, and even our overseas visitors commented on how wonderful the view and vista is. Service was average, with no complaints or compliments.

Will definitely go back sometime.
