We went there for drinks as we were in between lunch and dinner with few choices on the menu. This is another historic Jerome building, a former psychiatric hospital. We rode in a very neat elevator from the first floor to the second where the restaurant is. You have to pull a gate to close the door. The views from the restaurant are breath taking.

We recently took some local Jerome friends to your restaurant for dinner. They had not dined here for a couple years due to past poor service, and hence were not disappointed to receive more poor service this time.

The food was well-presented and very good, although the menu items have not changed in all the years we have been coming here. On a negative note we find your wine list grossly overpriced, and as noted above, the service level was well below par.

Here's the problem: The service is exceptional slow. When our server poured the red wine we ordered he spilled almost a full glass onto the tablecloth, which had to be removed. Fortunately, the wine splash did not reach the white blouse of our guest. After this mess was cleaned up, the server apologized and then proceeded to fill the remaining empty glasses.

The fact that were not offered anything for our inconvenience was disgraceful. Had the server said he would comp us a desert that would have been nice, but it didn't happen. On receipt of our bill some 2 1/2 hours later, I was sickened not to see any adjustment due the server's mishap. At that point we told the server that we expected something to be taken off the bill. He said he would talk to his manager. He returned some minutes later to tell us that his manager was going to take $10.65 off our $225.00 plus bill.

Needless to say I found this very offensive, and vowed under my breath never to return to The Asylum.

So dear Asylum owner, we don't wish to see your restaurant featured on "Restaurant Impossible" and we would like to revisit your restaurant after some of the following changes occur:

1. Retrain or replace current management
2. Retrain or replace your current wait staff.
3. Revise your wine list to feature more Arizona, California and Oregon wines and
price them more aggressively so that the guy or gal paying the bill doesn't feel
"ripped off"
4. Revitalize your menu with biweekly seasonal specials

Kindly accept the above recommendations in the spirit of enhancing our beloved Asylum Restaurant.

Good luck!

The views of Jerome and the mountain and valley below are breathtaking. And the food very good! The prices are high, but the food is tasty, and presented nicely.

don't listen to them when they say it's fresh caught. It was obviously frozen, microwaved, and then grilled. They slather it with bbq sauce and give you luke warm sides.

A bit pricey with a limited menu but good food. We started with a wonderful bruschetta, then salad and I shared a sea bass with my friend. My husband had the rubbed pork tenderloins which he said was great; our other friend had the strip steak which was not cooked to his liking (underdone). We finished with the icecream and blackberries. Service was o.k., no problems. We didn't have a window seat but could see out into the valley. The building is interesting - lots of Victoriana.
