Tasted like canned chicken and Kraft singles on the plates. Server was very friendly but that doesn't tip the scales much for a favorable review. I hope the kitchen was clean because the whole seating area itself was dirty. The place the across across the street was packed, they must be doing something right because this place was not...oh here's a tip to the female server, Don't stand over over people watching while They write the anount owed/tip on the check.

The young Mormon waitress was such a welcoming, warm and funny lady we would have been happy to invite her along with us on the rest of our holiday. Arizona is rightly renowned for the friendliness of its locals, but the waitress at Joe&Aggies took it to another level - after a few minutes she was already feeling more like a daughter than a stranger. Unfortunately her boss was the exact opposite. When we politely suggested that his allegedly famous super-hot chilli was actually tamer than the average British curry, instead of joining in, he threw a massive sulky strop. Possibly not the best behaviour in front of customers who are about to post reviews on TripAdvisor! (btw, the chilli was about the same heat as a chicken bhuna, but not as tasty - i.e. not as bland as water, but certainly not the kind of vindaloo heat that I was expecting).
In its favour, this cafe is a proper 'Route 66' experience, in the town centre, close to the train tracks and opposite the Wigwam and the cinema. However, Mr Maesta round the corner has a lot more kitsch and verve, and to repeat what previous reviewers have mentioned, Joe & Aggies has a real problem with flies.

The service was excellent and the food was very good. The restaurant was clean and even though it was small it had plenty of room. The decor was reminiscient of the 1960's and had lots of decorations from the era. We had lots of fun.

A family diner since '30 that saves all Route 66 atmosphere. Good mexican handmade food and good prices. The owner is a typical Arizona woman that cares so much at her place and she love to tell all the anecdotes about Joe and Aggie's Cafe.

Stopped in after a drive from Phoenix on my way to the Painted Desert, this place is in a time warp, from the outside you wonder about it, but the food was great, had the huevos rancheros, will be back next time through
