“Huge selection makes it hard to find the best pieces”

I stopped by Jim Gray's specifically after finding it on Trip Advisor. They did have a huge selection of rocks, minerals and petrified wood. But that made it all that much harder to dig though and find the really special pieces. You do need to know what is good and what is just a common lump of rock. The prices can be a bit high compared to the smaller shops around the area.

This place has all kinds of rocks and minerals. Most are not local, but the assortment is impressive in both quality and quantity. Petrified wood from small fragments to large log sections are all here. Fossils, geodes, patterned sandstone, etc. Takes some time just to look at all of it.

Purchased $200 worth of merchandise - paid for UPS shipping - it arrived via U.S. Post Office. Overcharged significantly for this. Have fought since early April to get a refund for the overcharge. Pending new owner - Jenny - hung up when I tried to obtain status on check. Not a good start for the daughter of current owner - Laura!!!! Be careful very careful about details as they ARE NOT...

I wanted to get some petrified wood knowing that you couldn't take it from the national park. There was TONS of it there! There were tiny pieces to huge pieces. Some was cut and polished and some was just plain chunks. Make sure you go outside to the bulk piles. I got some really nice chunks of petrified wood by the pound and some nice slices of picture sandstone out there. The fossil museum and the giant fossilied alligator was very interesting. We spent more time in there than we had planned. The staff was friendly and the bathrooms were spotless!

I have been here several times and it keeps getting better and better. The price is second to none for the quality and with the selection they have your petrified wood needs can all be met here. There is a rockhound museum set up inside as well. From raw pices to finished pieces including jewellry to table tops this place has it all. I showed up with my trailer this time to pick up a piece we never should have left last time. Out comes Leon with the forklift we get loaded up and off we go. The selection of color found here boggless the mind. The staff are outstanding the product is great, lots of parking, how can it get any better?
