“Great place for food and peace and quiet”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

Great food and views! Dine in the dining room or set on an elevated deck for great views down the valley. Have eaten there many times and there is always something new and unusual.
The rooms are all different with western or southwest decor.
The new management are willing and able to make your visit really special.

Room Tip: Take an upstairs room and get plenty of fresh air with the opening windows.

My name is Robbie Sutherlin. My wife Wendy and I have had the pleasure of working with the past and present owners of this Grand Ol' Gal for the past 6 yrs. Not once did we ever become complacent about any aspect of our jobs. Customer service has alway been a forethought for both Wendy and I. Both of us started as employees and "took the bull by the horns" after the snow storm of 2010 and the fire of 2011. We've gotten both great reviews and bad reviews during our tenure. Ms. Zahn took control of the lodge in 2012 and promply "cleaned house". In the process she has added a buffet to the ammenities of the lodge that sports country fare. I'm glad that the Trip Advisor award of "excellent" in 2012 (reflected by reviews from 2011) served as a welcoming site for her present and future guests. I wish her and her staff a long and prosperous future...

We had a most memorable two night stay. The first night we were the only ones in the Lodge - very unnerving and we couldn't lock the front door! The second night we were joined by three other lodgers. Our bed was very comfy and linens were nice. The food was delicious and most plentiful. All the staff, Dusty, Ginger, Dave, Gaylin, and Tracy, made us feel so welcome. I was surprised that there was no daily housekeeping to make the bed. As a bonus, Zeke made his presence felt. Would return again.

Room Tip: We had room 306 that looked out at meadow and mountain.

Spent a week up with multiple families using 3 of the cabins. All were very well taken care of, with great views. If you are looking to get up north it's a must stay. Bring your hiking boots and fishing poles. Best fishing is at Horseshoe lake on the reservation about 40 min from Greer. German Brown and Rainbow trout, we were hitting our limits the first hour and a half everyday out. If you have little kids they can use the catch and release ponds right in front of your cabin.

When we visited Greer Peaks in August we found a quiet, comfortable and friendly hotel. They were not very busy so we almost had the hotel to ourselves. Since we went there just to relax and get away from the heat in the valley for a couple of days, it was the perfect escape. The hotel offers a buffet with a nice selection of food. Even though it rained a fair amount of time there was still time to wander around town and taste some of the local cuisine or sit on the covered deck and watch the wildlife and enjoy the fresh air and the smell of the pines.

Room Tip: If you have trouble with steps be sure to ask for a first floor room.

I spent three days in August at the Peaks and had a terrific time. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The location is beautiful and very relaxing. It was a perfect getaway. The temperature was 40 degrees cooler than the 110 degrees I left in Phoenix. I also had several meals at the Peaks and was pleasantly impressed with the quality of the food and the service.

Room Tip: All rooms are very comfortable and have easy access. There are also cabins available.

My husband and I spent 3 nights in mid August at the Peaks. It was very welcoming and felt like "home". Our main reason to go was to watch the meteor shower away from city lights. We were not disappointed! Daily late afternoon showers gave way to spectacular rainbows. Early morning rise treated us to the milkyway and gazing at shooting stars. It felt like staying at your grandparents house. The food was wonderful. We especially enjoyed the cinnamon rolls at Sunday brunch and the ribs and brautwurst at the beer tasting on Sunday evening. The rooms were comfortable. Only thing missing was a private patio, but the grounds provided a good substitute. We stayed in a Peaks room, but would probably upgrade to include the fireplace and more of a view next time around.

Room Tip: corner rooms on 2nd floor have kingsize bed and better views.
