Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Phoenix-Glendale

We stayed here because we went to hockey games at jobbing.com. The hotel is walking distance to game and outlet malls. Lots of restaurants.
Checkin was okay. We arrived at noon and were told to come back at 3. We got back at 230 and got a room. We were told there was happy hour before arriving but there is not. In fact the check in girl said it was against holiday inn express policy which I know is incorrect as we experienced it a few days later at a different HIExpress property. People who have stayed here had mentioned they had it on this property as well. They must have cancelled it?
The room was clean. The bed was comfortable but watch out for an adjoining door in ur room as it is very loud with neighbors. I had to sleep with bathroom fan on. There was no fridge either.
The pool was great!
The breakfast was very good as well.
A great area to jog in the morning. I would definitely say one needs a car unless u just go to the hockey games. The spring training is about ten minute drive. There are three different fields around the area ( driving).
I booked with IHG points as well. IHG used to give platnun status for transfer points but now they do not so I probably will not use IHG points any longer because there were no perks really.
I would definitely stay at this property again but make sure there is not an adjoining door next to neighbor.

Decided to stay here for the Spring Games and it is nicely located for several ballparks and conveniently located to the e-way. With the Westgate Entertainment district nearby, it gave us many choices for nightly entertainment. The hotel was your typical Holiday Inn Express. Rooms were average size but comfortable. Only downside was the paper thin walls. Price was reasonable considering its location. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The hotel was nice and clean. Stayed in a two bedroom suite. Room was large, had a microwave and small fridge. It was good for our family of 4. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was the only issue, they did not replenish the toiletries and we would run out and had to get more from the front desk. But overall, a nice stay and I would stay there again.

Hotel is walking distance to Westgate which has shops and restaurants. We were there for spring training, it was a short drive to Camelback Ranch.

The hotel was clean inside and out and that is very comforting. Staff was friendly and greeted us right away. Our room was spacious and was as they described. We stayed there for 5 nights and didn't hear a peep from people in rooms or in the hallways which makes it nice.

The free breakfast in the morning was convenient and since my husband and I primarily do cereal or begals in the morning... it worked for us.

Even though I was supposed to be on vacation, my work called me in a panic and my personal computer was having issues so I was able to get the urgent request completed in their business center. I was grateful that they still have a working business center for their guests. I have visited some hotels and this feature is usually listed but the computer never works.

This hotel is also in a great location for sports fans. We planned our vacation around a Chicago Blackhawks hockey game at the Jobing.com arena and were were able to walk there from our hotel on game day. Didn't have to mess with parking which was a big plus. Also several restaurants and shopping places in walking distance as well.

Thank you for making my first trip to Arizona a nice one, we will be back.

The hotel was very clean outside and inside. The breakfast in the morning was good and the older gentlemen manning it did a wonderful job with keeping everything stocked and clean. When we arrived they couldn't find our reservation. Discovered they had us arriving the following day! They scrambled to find us 2 rooms for 2 nights. The one room was good, but the 2nd room was right by the lobby, elevator maintenance room, housekeeping room, business room, and pretty much any other room they needed for servicing the hotel! The doors are so heavy that they slammed hard & loudly behind whomever used them. We asked to be moved and they did immediately and that room was much better. As I waited in the lobby, I could overhear other guests having issues with their reservations. The front desk staff were accommodating and worked fast to satisfy us. It is close to the arena, outlet mall & Westgate (lots of dining options). Overall it was a typical hotel stay.

Room Tip: Don't take a room on the bottom floor close to the lobby. Very noisy with all the door slamming...

If you like average hotels, the 3-star variety, the Holiday Inn Express in Glendale, AZ is the place for you. That isn't meant to be condescending or pejorative -- it's just the hotel's fact of life. This property is clean, well run with friendly staff. There is a nice pool area and the complimentary breakfast is good, never great. The roms are comfortable, but basic, and the kind that are good for sleeping but start to make you feel claustrophobic if you spend too much time in them. The hotel is convenient to lots of shopping and restaurants and if you're there for Coyotes' hockey or Cardinals' football you can walk to the venues. We were there for Spring Training. If you follow the Dodgers or Brewers you're very close -- anything else is a half-hour away on the weekend and an hour in awful traffic during the week. If I had one negative it is how unfamiliar with the local area front desk staff is. One person had no idea how to get to the Dodgers' complex and another had no clue where Mesa, AZ is. They all offer to show you on a map or get Google maps directions for you but some local knowledge would have been nice. With all that said, if back in the area, we would consider this Holiday Inn Express again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool on the third floor.
