Beautifully decorated hotel with a very friendly staff. Beds are very comfortable and room furnishings are top notch. Breakfast was very good for $11 including coffee and juices. Evening cookies are wonderful! Very close (2 blocks) to a great life style mall with every store you can imagine.

I was in Gilbert for business and stayed at this hotel because of the good reviews and decent price. It had a spacious room, was in a good location and looks great from the exterior. But some of the "small" stuff didn't line up with how it was portrayed online. For example, I went to work out in their gym and the treadmill was out of order. Oh well, it may be a coincidence. So I went to the free weights (which are the all-weights in one type) and half of the weights were missing, leaving only three options to pick from (15, 25 and 35 lbs). Also most of the room entrance doors have lots of black scuff marks along the bottoms of them, the mini fridge was louder than any I've heard, there is a noticable traffic pattern in the carpet from the door into the room and the matress had a definate tilt to one side where everyone has slept.
These are all small things, but since I stay in hotels all the time, I notice them. It's usually indicative of poor management either at the hotel level or above, but either way, until they get better management, the hotel will probably continue to decline.
It COULD be an awesome hotel. With some attention to detail and general upkeep it would be amazing.
For the price, you can do better.

nice looking clean hotel. staff was friendly. did not use pool or gym but they looked in good shape. one of two elevators broke down causing delays. no carts available anywhere at checkout. no comp breakfast(except for corporate accts) but they did offer a $11.00 person brkfst buffet.not sure i would have a reason to go back.

A nice newer hotel. The room was clean, spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small, but did have counter space. There was in-room coffee and a fridge, and a full length mirror. The check-in staff was efficient, and friendly. The big downside was the almost constant sound of the train whistle during the late night/wee hours of the early morning. I can not actually recommend this hotel because of that.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face railroad tracks.

The staff was nice and the rooms were decent but they don't offer a complimentary breakfast of any kind. In this day and age almost all hotels offer a free breakfast so it doesn't make much since to stay somewhere where the only offer a pricey breakfast.

The DoubleTree at San Tan Village bends over backwards to make your stay a memorable one. The rooms are nice and the price is comparable to other brands in the same class as Doubletree. Thats not what will make you go "You know this was a really nice Hotel or I really enjoyed my stay here", it is the people who work at this particular Doubletree. They are SO NICE to you and bend over backwards for you in whatever capacity they are involved. My wife and I have stayed here now a dozen times or more and will for sure be back.

What I loved about this property is its close proximity to the fabulous San Tan Shopping mall area. There are restaurants and lots of wonderful shopping less than half mile down the road. I didn't love the long-blasting train whistles every night at 12:30am and 1:30am and again in the early morning, so do ask for a room that doesn't face the main street and bring ear plugs. The rooms are very roomy and have fridges, microwaves, coffee pots and safes. The gym is very small, but had bikes and treadmills and weight machines. You can access the gym 24 hours with your key and it is just off the lobby near the pool entrance. The pool heater was broken so I didn't chance a cold swim in November. I also loved the cookies at check in and cold water with fruit or cucumber always available in the lobby. The bartenders were friendly and the small bar area very cozy. We attended a reunion at the conference center next door, which was very convenient. Plenty of free parking and a very well run establishment overall. The front desk is a one-person operation, so you may have to wait to be served. Decor was tasteful and comforting.

Room Tip: The rooms that face the parking lot and the conference center are quieter and you won't hear the...
