This is the most accessible petroglyph site I have ever been to. The site is in impeccable condition considering it's more than 300 years in the Arizona sun! The petroglyphs are easily viewed and the site is well cared for. Price is $2 on the honor system and I noted visitors taking care to be conscious of the environment.
If you read the information on the entrance you will note that going to the left is for anyone that does not want to see the entire site. Going right is referred to as the hiking trail that goes around the entire area. So...go left to see the petroglyph mound only.
Here is a cool link that gives a lot of interesting history about the area and has great pictures.

The only downfall is that it is remote and there are no businesses out in the middle of the desert. Do bring your picnick basket and watch out for snakes.

This was a great opportunity for us to see an historical site containing hundreds of symbolic and artistic rock etchings. We were there when it was 115 degrees but had our large sun hats with us. The fee of $2 per vehicle is very low.
Should you choose there are shaded picnic and BBQ areas.
Pets are not allowed.

This site is a short distance off I-8, but definitely worth the drive. The morning we visited, we were the only people visiting. If you don't want to walk the entire circuit around the site, I suggest you start off to your left as you face the hill of rocks (from the parking lot), as most of the petroglyphs are on this side of the hill. I have visited many petroglyph sites, and this is the closest I have been to any preserved petroglyphs. I absolutely loved the isolation of this park.

We all thoroughly enjoyed this site. When we started around the trail to the west there wasn't much to see and felt it was just a waste of time but as we went toward the west, there were hundreds to be found among the rocks and very distinct. Trail is very short.
We spent time talking to the camp host and she told us a lot about the area. Camping sites available but not hook ups. Excellent picnicing and restroom facilities.

It's not expensive ($2/car on an honor system), but maybe they need to charge more so that more can be done. It's about 15 minutes from the nearest town and in the middle of nowhere. There's LOTS of petroglyphs, but they are difficult to see since the trail is far from most of them. Plus, there's so many and very worn, it's hard to make out the separate pictures.

Not sure how to make it more interesting, but something is needed here. Oh, yes, turn left on the path after you leave the parking lot. We went the long way around and kept looking for petroglyphs that weren't there.
