“An oasis in the desert”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2007

What a perfect stay!! Everything about the CopperWynd was luxurious, from our arrival to our departure.

We stayed for 6 nights just before the Labour day long weekend and we had the place to ourselves! We had booked 3 rooms and each were located on the 2nd floor of the main buildings, offering a wonderful view of the mountains and the city. The lobby is amazing with comfy sofas and a nice bar.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable and above all... QUIET! they offer a real residential feel, so you feel at home. The bathroom is huge with seperate glass shower, good size bath and separate toilet, so you can be two to prepare for your day, but never be in each other's way. There are ample towels and twice daily housekeeping service, so your room is always tidy and made up. Turndown service is impeccable.
I loved that I never saw housekeeping, but the property and our rooms were spotless, well maintained and welcoming!

The pool is spacious and the service is attentive. Huge towels and plenty of ice water. The waterfall in the backdrop really gives it a spa-like atmosphere. Didn't need to go to the "adults only" pool as the main one was quiet, and it was too warm for the whirlpool.

I didn't try the spa, but my mother-in-law did, and although the rates are a little steep, it was the best facial experience ever. The treatment was 60 minutes, but by the time they're done from taking the time to personalize your treatment to your going back to your room, you've spent 2 hours of pure bliss and pampering.

We ate in Alchemy - the main restaurant - for breakfast. The room is flooded with the sun in the morning and again offers a view of the mountains. The place is beautiful, residential and comfortable. The breakfast choices are fresh, varied and delicious. I ADORED the yogourt parfait!!!!!! Our server was attentive and prompt. After the 2nd day, she knew our preferences and made sure we were well cared for.

In sum, this is a perfect romantic, stress-free, relaxing gateway and no details are left unattended. We paid $100 - AAA rate. A steal!! We played golf and most popular courses are within 15 minutes drive. A shuttle is available too if you don't want to drive, can't remember all of them, but we used it to go to Eagle Mountain and We-Ko-Pa. Again, flawless service and readily available with a quick phone call.

It is located 20 minutes from downtown Scottsdale Rd, but the drive is well worth the isolation from the bustling city. This is truly an oasis in the desert and I can't wait to go back!!!!

My husband and I stayed at this resort for a relaxing getaway before he went overseas. Everything about this place is absolutely fabulous! To start, the front desk staff is so accommodating. We were able to check in hours before the normal time. The rooms are perfect and quite comfortable in size. The views from each balcony are breathtaking…the setting is very tranquil and relaxing. The Italian sheets are wonderful and the oversized tub is great at the end of the day.

The amenities here are perfect. Nothing is overdone but the attention to detail is superb. There are two pools available…one for families and one for adults only. The mountain side hot tub is wonderful. Poolside food and beverage service is available (great selection and preparation). The restaurant onsite is wonderful…the selections are diverse and fairly healthy. My husband and I each had custom massages during our stay and they were simply amazing. The spa amenities were wonderful.

There was a wedding going on when we were there and it was beautiful! The grounds were being prepared days before the event and it appeared that no detail was missed. This place would be an awesome venue for a wedding.

We highly recommend this resort for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway to unwind and recharge. The property is beautiful, the amenities are fabulous and the staff is wonderful. It is a close drive to great shopping and dining in Scottsdale. I feel as though this review does not even do Copperwynd justice! We spent our entire time at the resort and it was one of the best getaways we have ever had. Aruba is our favorite vacation spot…the Copperwynd is an extremely close second. We can’t wait to go back!

We found a gem when we stayed at Copperwynd for a week. Great and helpful staff, nice restaurant and facilities and in a secluded area of Phoenix up in the Fountain Hills area. The room was fantastic and when we needed help booking basketball tickets or Comedy Club tickets the front desk staff were very helpful. The 2 pool areas are nice as well. Don't be fooled by negative comments about this place...its a boutique type resort with a nice relaxing atmosphere.

We'll be back!!!

My wife and I stayed at the beautiful Copperwynd Resort for two nights in mid-September. It is a peaceful, low-key, finely appointed small resort hotel in the desert foothills. Our second floor room was very clean and outrageously comfortable. I was impressed with the quality of the furnishings down to the robes, toiletries and (I'm guessing) Italian bedding.
We dined at Alchemy on our first night and were quite pleased. There is a good wine list without the now all too common shocking markup. I had a yellow beet appetizer and apricot laquered pork tenderloin on a bed of risotto which were both perfectly prepared and presented. The service was excellent. Our server even brought us a sample of orzo to try when I mentioned that I recently learned that risotto and orzo were often similarly prepared. Prices at Alchemy were reasonable for the quality of the cuisine.
The next night my wife and I were treated to dinner at Morton's in Scottsdale. We agreed that we much preferred the uniqueness and quality of Alchemy over the over-priced uber-chain fare of Morton's. We look forward to our next portion of Copperwynd hospitality.

My husband are residents in Fountain Hills and have been for the last year...we moved here for culture and a better place to live...people have told us about the Alchemy restaurant for the last six months..two weeks ago we ate breakfast there and had a wonderful experience...and tonight dinner...for $85.00 we thought we would have wonderful food..mediocre at best...I had the Rosemary Grilled Lamb Chops and my husband had the Angus Filet Mignon...it was just OK...the service was absolutely terrible...the head waiter Kevin and the rest of the staff had attitudes beyond reproach...if you weren't a guest of the resort
they treated you like you were an alien from another planet...Carrabas' has better food and excellent service for 1/3 the cost...My suggestion is that people stay away from Copperwynd...especially if you're not a guest or member of the resort...typical you're not good enough for them..even though you have the money to dine there...DON'T GO AND WASTER YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY

I stayed recently as a guest in one of the private homes associated with Copperwynd. Our hosts own their home and are club members of Copperwynd, so although we didn't stay in the hotel, we spent time at the resort which is the basis of this review.

We enjoyed three hours of spa services, which were excellent, especially the "Cloud Nine" body treatment.
Kevin the spa and fitness center manager was extremely accommodating and gave us passes for using the fitness facilities. I enjoyed the early-morning spinning class a great deal!

We ate two meals at "Alchemy," lunch and dinner. The restaurant is intimate, with excellent service. Dinner was somewhat less relaxing, as a wedding reception was happening adjacent to the restaurant, but it wasn't particularly bothersome. The restaurant has a wall which is open to the outside, with beautiful views of the valley below. Both meals were excellent and we had particularly good service with our dinner.

Enjoy the amenities at Copperwynd!

While I definitely enjoyed my stay at Copperwynd, I'm not sure I see where the extra $$ goes when choosing to stay here over the comprable Inn at Eagle Mountain which was $150 less per night and right around the corner.

The room was nice, roomy and had a furnished balcony with beautiful views of the desert, driving range, Fountain Hills and the mountains. I enjoyed a lovely relaxing morning enjoying tea and breakfast on the balcony while little brown bunnies and flocks of quail hopped through the landscape below.

Other nice touches were the bathrobe, turn down service, spacious bathroom and bath products. They could do a better job of lighting in the bathroom, though, as it was a bit dim for putting on makeup, etc.

I took a spin through the spa and got a lovely hot stone massage and enjoyed the facilities. They didn't do a great job of letting me know all the amenities of the spa -- but know that you get full use of the lovely facilities before and after your massage. There's plenty to enjoy for a relaxing afternoon.

Overall, my stay was peaceful, enjoyable and perfectly relaxing -- however, the price is a bit high for the remote location and competition nearby.
