Who are we: couple in early 70's, he retired long haul commercial captain. Very well travelled couple.

Flew UK to Phoenix. Heading south towards Tucson. Picked up rental car at Phoenix and drove 70 miles for first night stop here.

Really good, clean motel. Family run. Would recommend

Breakfast available in this small town at very good restaurant. Owners of motel will advise.

Nice scenic drive next day south to Tucson..

We stayed her for the night as we were passing through. We booked the hotel ahead as we were on a limited budget and thought since we were just staying the night, if it was not great we would be fine. It turned out to be much nicer than we expected for the price. The place is very clean and well maintained. The pool was clean and we enjoyed a swim in the afternoon. We made reservations on line and there was no problem, except that we reserved a non smoking kitchenette room and when we arrived we were told there are no nonsmoking kitchenette rooms so we ended up with a smoking one. The kitchenette is a small room off the main hotel room and was very small, but clean and had the essentials. We enjoyed our stay and for the price this was a great bargin.

This is an old, classic motel that has been modernized and impeccably maintained as a moom-and-pop operation. This is the kind of place we like and our expectations were exceeded.

I thoroughly checked-out their website and I called to make the reservations (no online res system). I was quoted a rate that was higher then the website quoted for the kind of room (one king bed -- their best room) that we wanted. i mentioned the website rate and politely asked for that rate. I also told them that I had a coupon from their website for 10% off a 4+ night stay. They gave me the web rate and then knocked another 6% off for the coupon -- with no argument. I'd say that is fair. (The website is apparently not up to date with the rates.)

We arrived and were greeted promptly, friendly, and courteously. I had to remind them of the rate, but no problem,I got it. The motel looked recently painted and the landscaping details were beautiful from the large fountain out front to the artificial tulip-shaped edging that lined the walks. If the rooms were this nice, we'd be pleased...

...and they were. Electronic key cards to open the doors, spacious room, impeccably clean throughout, 40" flat-screen TV with Direct TV satellite, spotless bathroom, refrigerator and microwave. Besides the king bed, there was a table with two chairs, a built-in writing/phone desk with chair, and two small armchairs -- and the room did not feel crowded. Our room (118) was right down from the office and opened onto a small patio area in front of three rooms that was blocked from the street -- for a little privacy and street-noise reduction. Becasue of the decades-old construction out of brick, the rooms were quiet.

The swimming pool looked clean and inviting and we brought our suits. But the temperature was borderline and we were doing other time at the peak late afternoon (warm) time.

The only negatives we found (and not serious ones) were that there was no kleenex in the room (we had a box in the car) and the ice machine had a coin slot on it (no free ice -- we brought bottled water and the room had a 'frig, so we made do).

This definitely a place we will come back to.

Room Tip: Rooms on west side are quieter, away from the main street. Rooms on east side (along street) are few...

This charming mom & pop motel (22 units) is extremely clean and well kept. Our huge room had a flat-screen TV, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and hair dryer. Breakfast is not included but there's a McDonald's down the street. This town houses a prison complex across the street and set back aways from the motel, but don't let that stop you from staying here. There's also a good Greek restaurant nearby called Mount Athos, and of course you'll want to visit the St. Anthony's Monastery 10 miles south of town. It's a lovely campus and you can go inside several of the buildings, plus photography is allowed.

Room Tip: A room in the back would help you avoid road noise, although we stayed in the front, and we didn'...

I work at the prison part time and stay at this motel when I'm in town. I think of this place as home away from home. Great value for your money. A lot of nurses stay here and all recommend it highly.

We had confidence staying here due to a couple of good reviews here on TripAdvisor, and we weren't disappointed. Spacious room; the bed was fine (queen size); quiet; very clean; great shower. The television was average for a small motel; needs replaced for too long, but the rate and other things were more important. Ha, we were a little concerned when we rolled in to town and saw this place was across the street from a huge state prison (there are something like 7 prisons in town), but it was fine. Management was friendly.
