“A Jewel in the Dessert”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

Plan on spending time in this small, but comprehensive native museum and adjacent art gallery. The history of the native peoples from their origins to the present are explored through many artifacts lovingly displayed. The facility is situated in a very scenic setting with a picnic area on site set among ancient boulders. Worth a trip!

“Amerind - What a jewel!”
Reviewed January 30, 2014

We visited the Amerind last weekend based on a tip from a neighbor. An impressive museum and art gallery in a gorgeous setting basically in the middle of nowhere. The museum displays many artifacts from Native civilizations spanning from Alaska to South America, with an emphasis on Indian tribes of the American West. The adjoining art gallery has a wide variety of paintings, bronze sculptures, and furnishings. One gallery section is devoted to early 20th century New England paintings, another has Western art and contemporary bronze sculptures, and yet another is devoted to the Fulton's (the Amerind's founders) lives. We will visit the Amerind again when we have more than just an hour to spend there.

“Comprehensive Native American History in a Beautiful Location”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

Unfortunately, much of the historical and cultural attractions in Cochise County skip over the indigenous people who inhabited the land for hundreds of years before the arrival of European Settlers. For that reason alone, the Amerind Foundation Museum is a must see if you really want a comprehensive understanding of the region. But it is much more than just that. It covers the cultural history of native peoples all over the Americas, not just southeastern Arizona. The carefully curated displays show a lovely attention to detail - this place is a gem. Finally, it's housed in two Spanish style hacienda's, the former home of the ranch owners who established the foundation for all of us to enjoy. The setting is as beautiful as the exhibits themselves.

“Amerind Museum - worth the visit”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

We were pleasantly surprised by the size and scope of this museum in the middle of nowhere! It houses Native American artifacts and the exhibits include baskets, clothing, weapons, ceramics, pottery, art, etc. from a variety of tribes from Alaska to South America. There is also an art gallery that has beautiful paintings and sculptures. While this museum is off the beaten path, it is worth a stop when you are in the area.

“Well Worth the Stop”

An unexpected treat to find a museum of such a caliber in the middle of the desert! The museum has an extensive collection of Native American artifacts and a fine collection of southwestern art. Worth a stop.
