We stayed for two nights, while visiting family. This is a very luxurious hotel for such a small town. Huge walk in shower, modern fixtures, and clean, clean, clean. We stayed in a room with two queen beds which was a tight fit, so I would recommend spending the little extra and get the room with one king bed. Staff was friendly, rooms were quiet. Location was perfect for walking. We ate breakfast at Red Rooster across the street (delicious) and used our vouchers from hotel for $5.00 off each meal. We would definitely return again.

Room Tip: King rooms are larger.

We chose this hotel for 2 nights because we were travelling on the Verde Canyon Railway on Monday and wanted to be near to it. What a lovely hotel room, easy parking, delicous breakfast across the (vouchers included) and a minute walk to the Tavern Inn which we enjoyed very good meals at a most reasonable price. A perfect start to our road trip through the National Parks..

The hotel is upscale and luxurious with hardwood floors and high ceilings; the bathroom is large, modern and clean. It exceeds what you would expect from a hotel in their nightly rate class.

Finding the hotel is a little tricky because it’s not exactly on the main strip; it’s set back behind the public parking lot, which is where hotel guests park as well. When I arrived, I was concerned that this would limit available parking, but Cottonwood is so small that it was not an issue. After parking in the public lot, don’t start carrying your bags in just yet, because check-in isn’t in the same building as the hotel rooms. There is a sign indicating that check-in is at the Tavern Grill, which shares the same parking lot, but on the main street. I was a little taken back by walking into a bar, going up to the counter next to people enjoying their adult beverages and asking if I could check in for the night. Any apprehension I may have had was instantly relieved when the bar tender/concierge happily checked me and provided me with vouchers for drinks and The Tavern Grill and breakfast at two of the restaurants across the street.

After getting past sharing a public parking lot with no specific hotel parking, and the odd check-in, I was able to thoroughly enjoy my stay. The hotel is VERY nice and there are no complaints what so ever. I would highly recommend the Tavern Hotel.

Room Tip: There are only 10---it doesn't matter

We decided to visit Cottonwood to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We wanted to do something that we would remember years down the road and The Tavern Hotel was the icing on the cake. Fortunately I had read the reviews and was aware we had to register at the The Tavern Grille's bar. No biggy; everyone was very friendly and helpful.

We decided to have lunch in the restaurant prior to checking in. Our meal was good, our waitress was helpful with giving us the "how to" check in to the hotel at the bar and was pleasant in welcoming us to Cottonwood. The bartender was the hotel receptionist who again welcomed us and gave us suggestions on what to do and invited us back for happy hour. Our room was spotless (cudos to the housekeeping staff) and we ooh'd and aah'd on every detail from the hardwood floors, the tiling, the Philosophy bath products, overall the quality of workmanship throughout the hotel and how nicely decorated the room was.

Our room included complimentary drinks (one each) at The Tavern Grille and after visiting the wine tasting rooms we returned to the bar for happy hour. The change of shift bartender was also very pleasant and made us feel very welcome at the bar. We decided to use our complimentary dining gift card at Nic's (highly recommended). The following morning we used our breakfast gift card across the street at the Red Rooster (great food).

All in all; we can only rave with how pleased we were with The Tavern Hotel, the room package, the great staff, and how much we enjoyed our 24 hour visit to Cottonwood. We are already planning our next visit to Cottonwood and we will definitley stay at The Tavern Hotel. Thank you to all staff.

I didn't spend the night here, BUT I live nearby and my mom has stayed here twice (so I got a peek inside). Hands down, these are the NICEST rooms you will find in the area outside of pricey Sedona. The location is fantastic, several restaurants, cafes, and unique shops are within walking distance. The downside is the price is higher than the other lodgings in the immediate area, and don't expect a view of the beautiful Verde Valley (the location makes that impossible). Also, there is not a manned 24-hour front desk, so if there's a problem you must call an emergency number and wait for help to come. But the rooms are comfy, brand-new and GORGEOUS!

We didn't expect to find such a beautifully designed room with
large walk in shower - beautifully tiled
also provided unexpected ammenities such as fruit,
refrigerator & all one needed -
especially appreciated "glass" & not plastic glasses.
& appreciated with wine opener being available.

Great location - walk to shops & restaurants.

You have to check in at the Tavern Restaurant next door so there is no front desk or luggage racks. You also have to go to restaurant for ice. There are only 10 rooms located down a hallway with 5 on each side. The hall is beautifully decorated & very upscale throughout including the rooms. Had a shower but no bathtub which suits us fine. Beds were comfortable & clean.
